Our party of 4 had reservations for 12:30 today (Thanksgiving). We arrived around 12:20 and were promptly seated by a very kind hostess. She took our drink orders, delivered them and said our waitress would be with us soon. It was about 40 minutes into our visit when my husband sought out an employee to remind the powers that be that we existed in our cramped table in the corner by the window. Our waitress arrived shortly after and she was obviously being pulled a million different directions. She was very friendly and took our orders. When the food finally came out, it was fine, but nothing that made any of us wish to return... mediocre at best. At that point we were just glad to be eating. Every part of the visit took ENTIRELY too long and it was blaringly obvious that management/owners didn't prepare with enough staff and support to make a hectic day successful. I was tempted to ask to speak with a manager, but I didn't want to further stress our waitress who was not at fault. Also, I suspect we would have had a wait to speak to anyone with any authority anyway. I'm thankful for the kind hostess and waitress... but we won't be going to The Wooden Nickel again.
Great place. Staff was welcoming and friendly. Food was delicious. Had bacon cheese fries, shrimp basket.
We were passing through & found this place while browsing restaurants in the area. What a fantastic find! It is a beautiful restaurant. We chose to eat in the bar area due to the later hour. The restaurant area still had plenty of customers. The food was delicious & the portions were hardy! We tested out the chicken corn soup, which is loaded with goodies! Delicious! My entre included beef tips, mashed potatoes, stuffing & string beans! Wow! The other entre we ordered was turkey, pan-fried potatoes, stuffing & corn. We both got gravy on the side. We both took half our meal " to go"! It was a delightful experience! The staff & food was well worth the stop!
Mediocre at best. I heard this place was under new ownership...if they are, they better step up their game. I ordered the stuffed broiled haddock. It wasn't stuffed, and the portion was very small. I won't be rushing
back anytime soon.
Went for breakfast that they are now serving on Saturdays and Sundays from 8 am to 11 am. The service was exceptional, and the atmosphere was very peaceful. I had the hotcakes with ham and was very pleased with my selection on my first visit. The hotcakes were amazing, and the ham was grilled perfectly. My wife had the cream chipped beef over homefries and was very pleased with her selection as well. We will definitely be going back to try the other items that are available for breakfast. This is a fine establishment situated in the square of Millersburg and should be considered a must stop if you're in the area or just want to take a drive for exceptional food and service.
We were never fans under previous ownership so thought we’d give it a try since they have new owners. We went in and were seated, got drinks & waited 20 minutes for someone to come take our order. We were actually about to toss money down for the drinks and just leave and go to Max’s since it was taking so long. The food took almost 40 minutes to arrive ( a meatball sub & fish with crab cake ) which was mediocre at best. I am not sure if we were there on a bad night but waiting 40 minutes for a dinner to be served is certainly a sign of a poorly run establishment.
2nd Thanksgiving here for dinner. First time was a disaster so once we heard new owners we’d give it another try. Still just as bad. Sat there for 52 minutes before being asked what we wanted to drink. This is unacceptable. I know you are busy but at the very least acknowledge I’m there waiting instead of walking around trying to ignore me.
There was a sweet and incredibly funny 70 year old woman who sat us and brought us our drinks. She was the highlight of the visit. Our entire party ordered different burgers, and we all ended up with food poisoning. Service was great, but I can't give them more than one star for the food. Such a bummer.
