Best WLM Reviews
Been coming here for years. I wouldn’t say that I am necessarily a regular, but this is the number one place I’ll go in town for halibut fish and chips. The best, freshly dipped and fried.
However, the $4 fountain economy cola in addition to the three dollar to-go fee was maybe enough to make me not want to go back. I was certainly surprised at my total when given my bill. The bartender on shift said the $3 to go fee was for the kitchen staff apparently but don’t mind the 20% tip I left in hopes that it would be shared with weight and kitchen staff. Getting charge extra because I am taking my food to go seems quite odd. I guess just a heads up would’ve been nice.
Note, for those interested in getting a food order to go. I recently stopped by to get a food order to go. Upon arriving home and reviewing my bill, I noticed I had been charged a "three dollar to go fee". This was in addition to the food bill and the tip I had paid. Evidently, they are now adding this fee to all of their food orders to go.
Really liked our server, Tammy (Tami); great personality. We've been customers for over 40 years, but it'd been about a year since we'd eaten there. We're glad they reopened; the fish and chips are as good as ever.
Watched a Duck game here. Chili burger was good. Fries had too much salt. Service was pretty good.
When people say they want old Portland, they rarely mean it… so if you’re looking for the best fish and chips that don’t require a drive to the coast, a cold beer and a shot… then come on in.
I discovered this place back when I used to be a shot girl in my twenties and I hadn’t been back till today, and I’ve been missing out.
The staff are fantastic, the service is quick and if you’re sitting at the bar you’re definitely gonna make friends.
UPDATE: a year ago, I gave this restaurant a 1 star review due to poor service and flat beer. A year later, upon insistence by friends who wanted to have dinner here, I came back. Happily, I can report that my beer was delicious. Service was much improved despite a being busy. I had a bacon cheeseburger which was quite tasty, however, the halibut fish & chips that my wife ordered was amazing. I'm upping my rating to 4 stars.
Great bar, especially if you're a Niners fan. Even with a bad loss, I lost amongst my tribe! The staff was very professional and friendly. Even the Seachickens fans had a big screen tv,and were respected as football fans. 3 beers and a chicken sandwich was about $40, pretty fair these days. Highly recommend.
Not the same old Wooden Chicken Pub as I am used to, I walked in and sat down noticing a normal size crowd so wasn't expecting immediate service but after ten minutes and a small group of ladies who was seated well after I had seated myself the older server lady passed out menus to the ladies who had just walked in and proceeded to take their orders even though I was sitting at the adjacent table next to them. I have been a faithful and regular customer for twenty+ years and needless to say was extremely disappointed and will have to decompress from my frustrating experience today before returning and rekindling my fond memories of the past. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed.
