Best WLM Reviews

Edited December 2024: We played again and had a much better experience. I wanted to edit to reflect this.
WE used to love Woodbridge. There was a long period of time though where it felt like everything was going downhill including the restaurant. At this time, no one picks up when you call the golf course but the people are wonderful when you go in.
The restrooms on the course still are for emergency use only LOL. Sometimes they are locked and sometimes they are not. Make sure to get the code before you leave.
People do come to Woodbridge from all over to play. Sometimes the greens are good, sometimes they're not. The tee. Boxes are beautiful this time though. And the greens and the fairways were wonderful as well.
I edited this review because things have improved since I first wrote it.
Decent but could improve. Pro-shop Staff were friendly. Course is scenic. Pace was on point!
However, the Tee boxes were hard and couldn’t put the tee in. Very little grass on them (Par 3) so was not very comfortable to take divots for the fear of hurting my hand. Greens in the back nice were not in a good condition with dried up spots (see pic).
Restaurant staff were very friendly. I ordered chick tenders and fries. they were very tasty.
I'm not what you would call a regular golfer, but I have golfed more than 200 times in my life, at different courses and in several countries, and I do have my own nice set of clubs.
This place is professionally run, and the service from everyone was excellent, and they didn't even mind me being a joker at times.
The greens and the Fairways are fair, and the food in the restaurant? Very very good. The brisket sandwich was on point, the pizza was freshly fired. You really can't go wrong.
If you read someone complaining about this place, it's probably because they complain about everything. Recommended for the non-snobby among us.
3hr 13 min to play 10 holes. We stopped after 10 holes.
3 groups on every tee box.
No starter or on course Marshalls to speed up slow play.
Tee boxes grass need to be cut lower. Felt like hitting from the rough on every tee box.
How can you putt when greens are covered in poa annua???
And the restaurant, I heard so many great things about the place but the food was under cooked and tasted like SALT.
I do not recommend this place to play golf or eat.
The course is in very good condition and the layout is fun and very fair. Mostly want to give Kado's to the super good pizza the kitchen is pumping out. Way to go.!!
Let me start by saying my experience at Woodbridge compared to most public courses is excellent. You really have to give it up to management for putting together a very friendly staff. It makes you want to keep coming back to the course.
The food is also above par compared to most clubhouses. It’s a full restaurant menu. I will admit that the execution of items such as steaks and salmon can be a little hit or miss depending on who’s back in the kitchen but they have improved over the last year.
Their pizza is worth the trip. Hands down.
Now back to the golf. Fairway conditions: 3 out of 5. It’s average for a public course. They are so close to being great but for most of the year you will be dealing with a lot of dirt patches, dry patches and rough areas.
There’s a stretch of the season it gets better but I’d say this is an issue of budget for the course.
Layout: it’s 5 of 5. This course will challenge you from any tee box. This isn’t like some wide open muni. You’ll find creeks running across most fairways and many times right before the greens making this a shot makers course. The green complex are let’s say, complex. Reminds me of links style greens with lots of slopes and undulations. It’s just fun to play.
The cart girl situation could be better - I’ll give that a 3/5. Sometimes you see them often and sometimes none at all. Seems like a scheduling challenge and a budgeting issue once again.
Pace of play? Not great unless you play a later tee time. This is where I believe it could improve quite a bit. I’d give this 2/5. Tee times are stack in what seems to be very very short increments.
Even with that, it’s still a course I prefer over most. I don’t play most of the prime time slots so I can mostly avoid pace of play issues.
It has gotten much better since they’ve installed GPS systems and pace of play trackers on each cart.
Bottom line this place isn’t just worth playing it’s worth getting a membership. You can’t beat it. The practice areas are 5/5 better than most. The people there are 5/5. The clubhouse ambience is 5/5. The bar is excellent.
So come down and give it a visit. I guarantee you’ll enjoy playing the course and the staff here.
Played on a Sunday in late August 2024. First, let me state, I am quite happy with the amount of work that has gone into renovating the clubhouse and making some good investments in the course by removing trees and other hole changes. The services provided by the restaurant and cart staff are very good. That being said, I am leaving a 3-start review based on my experience today. To start off, we pay a premium to play on Weekends and expect more because of it. Our round was 5 hours today, not meeting expectation. And this was with Marshalls out on the course. I recommend you change the tee time spacing on the weekends to 10 minutes. This works great at other public courses like Mesquite Golf Club and most of the Dallas public courses. For the premium rate we deserve that. While much work has gone into the course, there are still several issues like large cracks in the fairways where balls can collect. Also, most of the greens look great, but they are the slowest I've played in the past 6 months. I get it! You are trying to preserve the greens during the hottest weather. There has to be a better balance. I think my grass in front of my house is faster for putting. There is still a ton of debris around the course like tree stumps and branches. It would seem easy to hire a company to come an clean up.
This course is becoming the Duck Creek of Wylie. Dry and cracked fairways. Uneven tee boxes made of tx clay so it's impossible to get your tee in. Lots of debris. Bunkers are not kept. Ball washers smell like ass. The top dressing on the greens has pebbles in it. On top of all that, they charge you a cart fee regardless if you're walking. It's sad. It used to be a great course.
