Best WLM Reviews
We went for dining. Not used room. So no comments on rooms.
We went yesterday with a group tour of 33 to 35 person. Our orders were baked fish or chicken. Fish were cold but we were the last one to receive our food. The bread they served were not for all. No butter at first. We had to ask for butter. When asked for more breads since 2 of us did not get, we were told there were no more breads. We have been to many group tours and went to other places in NH to eat. Total disappointment with customer service and food quality.
Horrible experience. No front desk support. Number to call at front desk had “voicemail full” & couldn’t leave a message. Key to room didn’t work. Charged me for room we couldn’t get in to. Been calling asking for owner. He won’t return my calls and charged me for a room we couldn’t get in to ! Poorly managed! Do not book a stay here. Front desk staff is useless! Owner is ignorant and doesn’t manage his business well at all. HORRIBLE! I will tell everyone I know to stay away from the Woodbound Inn.
Let's get this out of the way up front...yes, the Inn is old. It is not loaded with modern conveniences. If you want that, go find a chain hotel/motel. But it's HISTORIC and if you like that sort of thing (as I do), it is wonderful. My room in the main inn had what I needed - a comfortable clean bed, a clean bathroom, and a small TV with all the Discovery channels. (there was also a coffee maker, closet, dresser, and chair). It was surprisingly quiet, even though I was directly over the bar. I was very happy to be able to shut off the AC and open the windows to fresh air--something you rarely find in a modern hotel/motel. The grounds were nice and offered some nice outdoor seating. The food was excellent! The staff was very friendly and accommodating. It was a short walk to the Jaffrey town beach. For a quiet retreat, I would recommend highly, if you don't need modern.
When I came here there were two different weddings planned and going on during the same day. Also you can walk all the way down to the lake which is beautiful in the fall. The staff was very friendly and the food was good great service.
If it wasn't so pretty I would have more regrets having my wedding here. Most of my issues lied with Heather one of the event coordinators there. She should definitely not be customer facing, but I also heard the way she spoke to staff there as well which was also unsettling. We were having a beach wedding at 4 and it was raining upon our check in time to our cabin at 1pm (which we paid for an early check in time in advance and emailed them that we were gonna be there for 1) Heather had no clue we were coming for 1 and was very flustered to find Max who was helpful at times but in the end he just seemed like a yes man. But in the time of us waiting for our cabin to be prepped Heather just looked out the window and kept commenting on the rain and that we should consider moving it inside. I remember having to tell her numerous times that the rain was ending at 3 and we are 100% having it there. Really seemed like they didn't want to towel off the chairs we set up the night prior (which there cabin guests were kind enough to move all around on us) finally get to the cabin that all the guys are getting ready at. It's 100 degrees there's ants everywhere no a/c no screens in windows to circulate airflow without letting an army of mosquitoes in. Giant stains on the couch and enough spiders that I could start a army (This is the cabin me and my wife are supposed to stay in after the wedding as well) we also spend over $1000 on flowers that we set up the night before. During the walk through we were told the play barn a/c would be on for the flowers so they don't die. We mention it to Heather just to confirm it and she starts throwing a fit that it absolutely cannot be left on and she has no idea what to tell us. They eventually come to a resolution(after alot of arguing that the flowers cost more than the A/C for the night) they are gonna charge us an extra 130 for a night of running the A/C???? we agree and when we go there in the morning it was 1000 degrees and the flowers were wilting. The biggest quam with the day was that neither event coordinator was anywhere to be seen to direct people on where the ceremony is being held, how to get there, nothing. Which resulted in alot of confusion and our ceremony starting late which ran everything else back as well. Then everyone was standing around confused after the ceremony as well and Max just drives to the beach gives out a plate of food and drives off. I would of thought he was just a waiter if I didn't know he was our coordinator. Our DJ saved the rest of the night we just had to tell her when to announce things. But the coordinators were no where to be found for the cake cutting. We needed plates silverware a platter for the top etc.Which resulted in us taking all our guests from outside in to the hot playbarn where everybody had to just stare at us for 15 while somebody found them. Why give them a schedule if they don't look at it. Why be a coordinator if your not gonna coordinate? Also was told when I asked if we could get water brought to our cabin for the night they were all out. WHAT! 40 mins go by and I'm handed a warm water the was just retrieved from next to an oven or something. Only 4 warm water bottles instead of bringing them to the cabin. We go the the cabin to stay the night after the wedding is over and it is so infested with bugs spiders and ants and so hot the we drove home at 2am just so we could get a good night of sleep. All in all the place is charging as much as it can and putting in absolute bare minimum. Maybe take the thousands of dollars ya charge and put it back into the buisness you have going before expanding on to new ventures. If you do decide to have your wedding here. Just don't let Heather be involved in anything(the only time she was easy to get a hold of was when she wanted our money) and don't take Max's word as fact. He's a man of many promises and a filler of few
A historic older building that could use some updating. We ate in the Pub; the food was very good and reasonably priced. The room is dated and could use some updating, especially the bathroom. The linens on one of our beds had a stain on it. When we reported this to the staff on check out they could not have cared less. No apology or offer to make things right for us, We will not be back.
The previous reviews DO NOT reflect how AWESOME this place is. We stayed at Woodbound Inn after our rehersal dinner and the night of our wedding. Multiple family members booked out different types of rooms throughout the property. They were clean, helpful, and extremely nice. It was the first hot day and it got a little hot in our room.. we had mentioned it and not even 1 hour later we had a a/c installed in our room. This place is beautiful as well. The room we stayed in was newly updated. Front desk assistant was wonderful and made us feel extremely welcome. Bartender was also very nice. Breakfast was great! We couldn't have had a better experience here.
We visited for my little sister's wedding last weekend and this place is a gem. The grounds were amazing, the inn is truly charming and the staff were all friendly and on point.
