We stopped at Wood-n-Tap in Wallingford, CT, around 5:30 PM on a busy Saturday evening before heading to a show at the Toyota Oakdale Theater. Despite the packed waiting area, the host kindly informed us it would be about a 10-minute wait—and she was right! The restaurant is large, with plenty of seating across multiple dining rooms, allowing for a steady flow of guests.
Our server, Abby, was outstanding—warm, welcoming, and always smiling. This was our first visit to any Wood-n-Tap location, and the experience did not disappoint. The menu offers a nice variety without being overwhelming, with something for everyone, from appetizers and salads to burgers and entrées.
We ordered burgers and fries, which were cooked to perfection. The burgers were juicy, the buns fresh, soft, and buttery, and the fries were solid—classic and satisfying, though not particularly unique. The overall atmosphere was upbeat, and it was clear that the staff enjoyed working there.
Although we didn’t sit at the bar, it was spacious and well-designed, with plenty of seating. Our bill was very reasonable at about $40 before tip (no alcohol ordered). The restaurant seemed to cater primarily to families, which added to the welcoming vibe.
Overall, we had a great experience and look forward to visiting other Wood-n-Tap locations. Highly recommend giving this place a try!
This evening, we made the decision to dine at Wood n Tap with our son and grandsons. The service we received was courteous and highly efficient. There were no instances of informal language, such as "hey guys," which I find to be unpleasant. The staff demonstrated utmost politeness and respect throughout our interaction. The food was of good quality, with my meal consisting of a full course, while the others opted for burgers and appetizers. My sole point of dissatisfaction was the lighting in the area where we were seated. It was excessively dim, to the extent that we had to use the flashlights on our phones to read the menu. This is not an exaggeration.
Great bar with a good menu! And Tyler the bartender was very attentive and had great menu suggestions. I had the bison burger and the chipotle that was in it was not overpowering or too hot. Probably the best bison burger I can remember and I have had bison in several states. My only complaint is that they had no local stouts or porters, but that is typical for many bars during the summer.
Stopped here after arriving in CT, and this place did not disappoint. I got the Patty Melt and at first thought it was strange to have gravy with your burger but OMG, It was amazing!! Would def recommend it! Will be returning on my next visit.
Great happy hour specials. The hummus plate is tasty and healthy.
Came here before a concert. We didn't realize you needed a reservation. I'm not sure if it was because of the concert night or just in general. Luckily, it was only 2 of us, and we were able to sit at a table in the bar area. The restaurant was clean and the service was great! My aunt ordered the fish and chips, and she loved it. I ordered the half rack of ribs with french fries. I really enjoyed them! Very tender and full of flavor. Will definitely return!
Our first time we had a nice time..our app was asparagus wrapped with prosciutto on raddicchio..hubs had hibiscus beer it was good and PINK..I had no rum punch..delicious..entrees..he had Santa fe chicken and I was thrilled to see the arugula salad with blackened chicken.
This was our first time coming and it did not disappoint! The food and service were phenomenal ????. We will definitely return!
