Best WLM Reviews
Used to love this place, but over the years, the quality of the food seems to have changed. I've been to this Wood N' Tap and many other locations as well. This one is neither better nor worse than the rest. Good for drinks and meeting up with friends, but the food should be eaten immediately. It doesn't taste good cold, unless you got a salad. Their wings were good the first few times I had them, and then they were s*** after that. Like I said, I believe the quality of the food has decreased lately. I mean what's with the artisan buns? They're good but so hard to keep a burger inside.
Anyways, I was really disappointed with them after the last few orders. Again, my most recent order was delivery, so I'll give them a break. Like I said, I've been there both in person and delivery many times, and even the spinach dip tastes like the Tostito's spinach dip you can get from the store.
It's an enjoyable American cuisine location, good for families and friends looking to grab a quick bite or watch a game at the bar, but I wouldn't go out of my way to go here unless i was with a large group. It's definitely too pricey for the product. But it is what it is, food is expensive right now. So yeah, the place is great for occasional use, like it's a much better experience than a lot of other places, but that's it. Sometimes they have trivia night which is fun. Otherwise I wouldn't really bother. Not a first date kind of place.
We ordered chicken on our salads and this is how much chicken we got per salad...seems a little sparse considering their prices. I feel they could lower their price point slightly and become a high-class version of Chili's or something. But their food is nothing to write home about, and they should play their cards carefully if they want the chain to survive.
Not sure if they have happy hour anymore, but that's probably their lifeline. Like I said, trivia nights there can also be fun. It's just busy in there on weekends and during certain times there are rushes. They have music playing as well, so it can get loud between the babbling an the music. They could work on their cleanliness as well. Like wiping all the tables down before customers sit. I was a waitress so I understand the difficulties, but wiping down the table is just common courtesy. No one wants to sit at a table filled with crumbs.
So yeah, 3/5 is pretty generous considering all the issues that occur here. They should focus more on employee retention. The nachos are good and large for the price, but again, you should eat them asap and not save them for later because they get moist and inedible.
Never again.
Walked in, no hostess...comes out of the kitchen and seats us in a totally unbussed section. The wife and I wait for 15 minutes with only passing acknowledgment from a waitor.
We leave; I grab business cards for the restaurant's managers at the front desk. No acknowledgment.
If you work hard for your money, and choose to go out for an evening, don't come here. Nobody in this restaurant cares about anything and it couldn't be more obvious.
We went to Genki in the Plaza next door and had a beautiful meal there.
Placed an online order for pickup at 1145am for a company holiday lunch. Operating hours are listed as being open at 11am. The order was successful and credit card was charged. About 10 minutes prior to pickup time we receive a call that they are not opening until 1pm today and our order will not be ready. If you are not going to be able to serve your customers you should disable your online ordering.
This place gives you that home town feeling with a modern twist. We visit this location every time we are in Hamden visiting family.
The food is always delicious. The drinks are always well mixed and tasty.
The staff are always friendly and outgoing.
They have a very nice outdoor patio. The area is spacious and large enough to hold several tables. The addition of two tables with a fire pits was recently added… perfect timing for the fall and winter season.
The interior of this restaurant is well designed and super clean. We haven’t had a negative experience since we started visiting this restaurant Two years ago!
Great place
I like their wings - Thai and regular buffalo sauce are pretty good. Nachos are a hefty portion but can get soggy in the middle. Should be served in a platter and not piled high in a plate making it easier to pull a loaded nacho every time. Small containers with sauce should NOT be placed on top of the food.
The drinks are OK.
Ok, let's do. If you read my post, you know that I have a fetish for Calamari. My neice and I go for apps and drinks we keep it simple 2 drinks loaded nachos and Calamari. The drinks were decent. The nachos were good... The Calamari was clams. The clams were amazing. The funny thing is that the clams aren't on the menu. The Calamari sucked. It was rings were rubbery, and the tentacles were tough. The waitress was awesome. The service was great. I would go back.
I like the environment here. Fast friendly service. I like the menu. It's not overwhelming. Easy parking. I didn't have any of the drinks, but I was intrigued by the selection. I will return for a visit
I decided to order online, show up early, and check out the restaurant. It was for 7:30pm, so I arrived at 7:10pm. As I was parking I noticed a lot of parking spaces for curbside pick-up, along with it's own side entrance. Very impressive.
As I walked inside of the restaurant I was greeted by a friendly hostess who already had my prepaid receipt available to sign. I was offered to sit at the bar while I wait for my order. I explained that I was doing a Google review and she was okay with my taking some photos to post.
The decor is very nice, the atmosphere is calming, and the guest all seemed pleased with their meals. All great signs in a restaurant.
My food reached my hands at 7:23pm. Quickness is great, unless errors are made. I ordered a bacon burger medium well and a hickory burger medium. With a few minutes drive to my destination I considered carryover cooking. To my delight the temperatures were perfect. I definitely tip my hat to the cook.
I bit into the hickory burger and immediately noticed the dry taste of brioche buns. There was no bbq sauce on my sandwich. Everyone who is educated in culinary arts know a sauce makes a meal. Only took away 1 star instead of 2 because everything else was on point.
I haven't decided yet if I'd return back to the restaurant. If you want to give them a try they're a minute away off Route 15 (Merritt Parkway) Exit 60 on Dixwell Ave.
