Best WLM Reviews
I recently visited Wonton King after hearing many positive reviews, but unfortunately, my experience did not live up to the hype. I arrived on a quiet afternoon and was told by the server to seat myself. The first red flag was the condition of the condiment bottles, which were sticky and unclean, not the best start for any dining experience.
I ordered the house special noodle, which was average at best-nothing special about the dish. To my disappointment, there was no follow-up to check if I was satisfied with the meal. The service further declined when another server presented the bill while I was still eating. When I requested an itemized bill, she outright refused, which I found unprofessional.
Another aspect that puzzled me was the rave reviews about the owner's friendliness. Throughout my visit, the owner was seated at a table, seemingly preoccupied on the phone. There was zero interaction, leaving me wondering what all the buzz was about.
Overall, the visit was disappointing and I will not be returning to Wonton King.
Best Chinese food I ever have around St Louis. Every dishes we order taste so good. All the staff are friendly and doing them best service. The owner is very nice she will come out to say hi with a welcoming vibes.
It’s self seating when you get inside. You pick a table and a waiter will come to you once you’re seated. We tried a variety of different dishes on the lazy Susan - all were great. Super filling. Service was also fast and very friendly. Prices were around your typical higher end Chinese restaurant with the shrimp lo mein going for $17. Definitely would recommend if you’re visiting St. Louis and looking for a dinner restaurant.
Is this the best Chinese restaurant in St. Louis? Probably. The best beef chow fun? Definitely. Great hot and sour soup. Amazing chicken with black bean sauce. Nice owners. Great place for a casual dinner.
Rating Reflection: ????????????????????Wonton King is a culinary jewel in Metro-St. Louis, offering an authentic and delightful Chinese dining experience that surpasses expectations.
Decor Ambiance: ????????Blending traditional Chinese elements with a touch of American flair, Wonton King’s decor is a visual feast. From the captivating fish tank and vibrant neon signs to the more understated tablecloths and colorful backroom decorations, the restaurant strikes a perfect balance between the classic and the contemporary.
Service Excellence: ????????The attentiveness of the staff was impressive, bordering on overzealous. Our water glasses never saw the bottom, and the frequent check-ins on our dining experience were a testament to their commitment to excellent service.
Culinary Delight: ????????The food is the pièce de résistance. The Orange Chicken and General Tsao’s Chicken, alongside curry beef and a mysterious vegetarian dish, were devoured with an enthusiasm that speaks volumes. It’s the kind of Chinese cuisine that feels authentically crafted, not just for a restaurant but for a true culinary experience. A place I’m eager to return to, not just for the food, but to capture the essence of the meal in a photograph.
In Retrospect: ????Wonton King isn’t just a restaurant; it’s a gastronomic haven that successfully bridges the gap between authentic Chinese cuisine and the American palate. It’s a place where every bite is a journey, and every visit is a discovery.
Final Verdict: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - “Great”“Wonton King: Where Authentic Chinese Flavors Reign Supreme.”
For anyone in search of the quintessential Chinese dining experience in St. Louis, Wonton King is a must-visit. It’s not just a meal; it’s an adventure in taste and tradition. ????????????
Highly recommend! The owner was very welcoming and the food was hot, authentic, and super tasty. Don’t miss out on their handmade potstickers with lots of chili oil????
First time here and I ordered cashew chicken from the lunch menu and my soup option I chose hot and sour soup. The soup was awesome. It was the right thickness and it had the right amount of heat. The cashew chicken was not very good. The sauce wasn’t quite right and the cashews and other ingredients tasted stale. If the ingredients aren’t fresh it makes a HUGE difference. The meal came with a crab Rangoon and a wonton and both seemed stale to me. Our server was friendly and provided great service. I’ll give them another try.
Excellent Hong Kong Chinese food. They have a menu for authentic Chinese dishes. I really enjoyed the general tso chicken. They have the best hot & sour soup I’ve ever tried. Crab ragoons are good. I recommend ordering pork dumpling and shrimp dim sum and bbq pork buns too. Excellence Chinese food.
