Best WLM Reviews

Normally I get the Sweet and Sour chicken here cause I like it so much . Tonight for a change up I went with Singapore Noodles and a side of Rangoons. Lots of positive review for the noodles. They were spot on. The noodles were great. Very tasty. Shrimp, scallions , peppers, beef, egg and noodles. Not spicy but has a great flavor. Portion almost enough for 2 so good value . If you want something good to try and you look noodles order this dish! I know I will order it again for sure!!
For me one of the best Chinese restaurant. Maybe is not fancy but food is very tasty. I recommend beef stew noodle soup. Soup is absolutely the best.
Pick up review.
If you lived in Chicago for long and been to chinatown, you know the history behind 554.
There are a lot of youtube videos about it too, very interesting.
In a simple story, Seven Treasure restaurant in Chinatown used to sell BBq pork with fried egg over rice, and the menu number was 554.
It also started as $5, I started to get them when it was around $8.25, so pretty late. When they announced they would be closing, I was so sad. I wanted to get 554 one last time, but the news got out, and the line was just unimaginable.
The good news was, 554 will live on!
This restaurant in surburbs, far from Chinatown, will continue to serve 554 with original receipe.
And I finally had a chance to try after long months. It was picked up as I had to bring it back to work and eat. So, there is no rating on service and Atmosphere.
I picked up pork egg foo young as well.
I'm giving solid 4...First price is $12.50, I think it's expensive for what it is. They are definitely capitalizing on the name 554, its very simple dish. Taste wise, it was very similar, but I think the pork should be a bit more tender, can be more juicy. Obviously, they don't make this as much as Seven Treasure used to do, so I get it.
I also did taste more of that chinese 5 spice.
I put soy sauce on my eggs to mimic how it use be to served, and that's how it should be eaten.
Egg foo young was also not bad, but the gravy lacked a bit of flavor for me.
Overall, it's not bad, but I guess you can't beat the original.
I definitely should try their specialty, seems like their noodle dishes were popular, so I will try those next time.
First, the service and staffs here are quick and provides one of the best hospitalities.
Secondly, the atmosphere is spacious and welcoming. The wallpapers represent the cities of China making the environment feel authentic.
Last but not least, the food is excellent! Portion size is great. I grew up going to many Chinese restaurants with my family and this is one of the best ones in the area. I still remember my first experience here many years ago and have not stopped coming since. This restaurant is typically packed. Truthfully wish there were other locations! I also got my s/o into Wonton Gourmet.
Great food portions but beware staff is not friendly they “have each others back” certain waiter name Irya will NOT be seating in her section ever again. Arguring instead of solving the problem had to get a manager to correct and Not so good service for tip gratitude ????
no taste at all. worst fried rice that i ever tasted. we ordered pick up. 1 portion Fried Shrimp Wonton. 1 portion Yang Chow Fried Rice. fried rice not good at all.
Came here for the third time as we live about 45 min away. Its authentic Cantonese food! All the food we ordered are great! Check out the photos for more detailed look of the cuisine served.
1st time eating at this restaurant and we loved it! Orange chicken is all white meat and tasted delicious. Fried rice was also very tasty. Just a little bummed we didn't get any fortune cookies with our take out! But we will definitely be back! Delicious
