The food is great, I usually coke here 6 to 8 times a month.
Portion was bigger than average. Our 3 combination meat of roasted duck, chicken and pork came in thick pieces. The meat were tasty but they were too cold, it would tasted better if they were being heated. The other dishes took very long to be served we almost wanted to cancel the orders. I believe there are many other better food options in this area.
This no frill restaurant is my go-to for comfort Chinese food. The food has been consistently good and their duck is better than other places so far. Good portion overall. The only thing I do not recommend is their water. It smells funky. Not sure if it’s their plastic cups. The older women working there provided efficient service.

With the insect issue, I have reported to the Dept. of Environmental Health for food safety. After the inspection, the inspector noted that the facility has several live cockroaches, as well as some fruit flies and drain flies. The facility was closed for several days.
I personally would not go again and urge any viewer to reconsider before ordering or dining in.

We went back to the restaurant and bring the food back in as the manager required proof. When we arrived, she insist that “we put the bug in”, as they don’t have this types of bug. It is eye opening that they can shamelessly refused to take any responsibility for their own issue. AND, she claim that is NORMAL to serve food WITH STEEL SCRUBBER, since they use it to scrub their pot. She wanted to show us the kitchen instead of taking responsibility for the serious food hazard they served.
DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM!!!!!!!!!

I would give 0 star if I could. We are celebrating my mom's birthday, so we decide to order takeout. 3 out of the 5 dishes have serious issue. 1. Soup has a big bug in it. ( see photo) 2. Dish has a steel scrubber in it (see photo) 3. The worst Spicy Bean Curd with Shredded Pork we have ever had. We contact the restaurant for the first two issues. Neither the waiter nor the manager can speak proper English to under the situation, she hung me up without apologizing nor trying to understanding the situation. My mom called again to speak in mandarin, and she insist that it has to do with COVID and it is normal to have steel scrubber in dishes !? She request us to drive back and show her the food, and mention that she can not manage anyone in the restaurant.
NO APOLOGIES, NO ACTION on the dishes after we called.
I have serious concern about the food quality, management, and customer service.
Great spot. Would recommend the fish porridge, spicy salt fish fillets, and Chow fun. Seriously, the porridge is hella flavorful, a true sleeper.
I love Chinese food, but this one's not worth 17.49$. Their food quality is really bad for the price. The beef, and chicken are tough as hell. Sorry, but I will never come back again. ????
just reopen under new ownership, and it is now called Ocean Pearl Monkok. The food is great, and the price is on the medium high side. The best deal is Monday to Friday has lunch special for $10.99 for two of the popular items, Hainan chicken rice plate and beef Chow fun. Great deal during this soft opening.
I ordered the bbq duck. Inexpensive, juicy, and delicious. One of the best bbq ducks in the south Bay Area so far.
