Best WLM Reviews
I am writing this review as we sit at the bar, consuming the food we've ordered.
The crispy tofu was soggy. The rice that it came with was dry, undercooked. The vegetable spring rolls were a pittance, I did appreciate that they were crisp. (more crisp than the "crispy tofu").
But most of all, the soup dumplings came with a very thick skin. There was no black vinegar dipping sauce. The restaurant does not have black vinegar which is a staple in Chinese restaurants. Which makes me wonder, what do they use for their hot and sour soup? You can't make that soup without black vinegar.
As an Asian who has traveled Asia, I rate this restaurant very poorly in flavor, rice doneness, and condiments.
I wish we had walked into a Panda Express instead.
3 stars for food quality and taste. 5 Star for rest. Great serving size even for lunch appropriate to share. They have a bar as well as booth and table seating. Outdoor seating available as well. Service was excellent.
Wok Star Chinese is my favorite Chinese restaurant in the DFW area. The food is always hot and fresh. I have not experienced anything soggy from this restaurant. Very flavorful, food and friendly staff. The drinks are amazing but I did not take a picture of any. I really like the crab Rangoon, but disappointed that it does not come with a lot of crab meat. The dumplings were delicious. The chocolate filling in my dessert puffs were amazing. I am a frequent customer.
I live 40 minutes from this place and I believe the drive is worth it! The dumplings, dumpling soup, the pulled noodles and wontons were so yummy - it’s now my favorite place to get dumplings!! Seriously our server was so kind and attentive. Food was great, can’t wait to go back already!
When you first come in, you will be very skeptical about the food here because it is a mixture of many styles. Can you imagine a Chinese restaurant with a bar inside? And a disco ball? !
I have to say that this Chinese restaurant is better than many restaurants run by "real Chinese". I have rarely eaten such delicious steamed dumplings, steamed buns and noodles!
We ordered scallion pancakes, vegetarian steamed dumplings, pork buns, chicken dandan noodles and eggplant. Its scallion pancakes are fried scallion pancakes, which are different from the scallion pancakes you usually eat. It reminds me of the taste of my hometown.
The steamed dumplings and pork buns have the best crust I've ever had in all of Dallas. They're not too thick, they don't taste dry, they're just right. The filling seasoning tastes great. I also like the Taiwanese fried rice noodles.
I don’t like the seasoning of the dandan noodles, but the noodles are really good. You can definitely taste the noodles as they are handmade.
I will definitely come back to this restaurant to try its other dishes
This is a solid choice for Chinese. They offer a broad menu of American-Chinese classics, and most are excellent, flavorful renditions. Kung Pao Chicken and hand-pulled noodles are standouts. The atmosphere is fun and modern, and they have a nice little patio for fair weather days. Service is generally friendly and attentive. One of the better options around in what can feel like a sea of mediocrity. Great choice for a casual family dinner.
I can't recommend this enough. I was a bit worried when I looked at the prices but the food is well worth it if not more. Huge portions with amazing flavors. Got the combo dumplings, the pork was my favorite, and the eggplant with garlic sauce. The eggplant was incredible! The sauce was so amazing and addicting. I want to come back to try their other items but it'll be so hard not to order the eggplant again.
The chef in the back was having a great time making the noodles! You can go right up to him and watch him make them by hand. I'm going to try and make sure I have cash on me next time I go so I can give him a tip. Maybe even ask if I can record him doing it! It was so fun to watch.
If I could give ZERO stars I would. This is was the worse disappointment ever. THIS IS NOT CRISPY BEEF, THIS SOGGY OLD LOOKING REFRIED BEEF! The worse $25 I have ever spent! And you just opened at 11am, and it's 11:26am! If I wasn't in a rush I would turn around and bring this awful soggy mushy suppose to be crispy been back to you all! Panda Express got y'all beat a 100 times over on Krispy Beef and that's clearly where I should have went, I don't recommend this restaurant to nobody. This is out right sad! Take pride in your food and stop selling people food like this and charging $25 for this mess! I'm extremely upset about this!
