Best WLM Reviews
I had the unfortunate experience of ordering via UberEats, which I had no problem with as the delivery was timely and efficient.
Unfortunately the food was nothing to write home about. I ordered one volcano roll, and one plate of the fire Street chicken. The volcano roll was rather nice and I enjoyed it without any issue, but the fire Street chicken was atrocious.
For starters, what I received in no way matched either the description or the image of the menu item that I expected to receive. Even worse, the food had an odd odor to it, similar to food that is beginning to spoil. And to save the worst for last, there was what appeared to be raw chicken, visibly pink and mushy to the touch, in this plate of food that smelt like it was close to spoling.
The food was so good and large portions to share with table. The location was a good walk. The menu has a large variety. There are only a few vegetarian options. The waitress was kind and patient with our questions. Inside is a little outdated as well as outside, but the food trumps it all!
So I've never actually been to the restaurant (in person), but they're my go-to place for takeout. I love their sushi. ???????? It’s the kind that melts in your mouth! ????????????
I may have a slight obsession with Philadelphia roll and they make the most fresh ones. I have bought other stuff from them too - dishes, soups and other sushi rolls, but I couldn't find the photos I took, so you can look my collection of Philadelphia roll orders. ???????? I also really like the Egg drop soup they have.
I've tried a lot of Sushi places in DMV, and this is hands down, my absolute favorite, and in my opinion, the best. Funnily enough, I came across them just when I had given up on finding good sushi in DC, and had accepted the fact, that I'd have to just stuff myself, whenever I go back home, to Toronto; and then voilà, ✨???? I accidentally stumbled across them. Its been great! ????
This place is on my "DC Restaurants Hit-list" list, and I plan to go to the restaurant in person, because well - Karaoke ???? - so I'll edit my review in the future, so I can comment on the ambiance/atmosphere, and the in-store service. But so far, I've a very positive experience with them. ☺️
And since my discovery of this place on Uber Eats, I've removed all the other Sushi places from my favorites list. ????
Update. I found a cooked roach/ bug in my seasame chicken. I was offered a refund of remake in the food. Gross. Never going back. The orange sesame chicken is a must. Wasn't a fan of the fried wings and curry shrimp. A strange amount of veggies. There is a "security" door that you must be let in to get to the dining area. I wouldn't go back to dine but would do they sesame again. The staff was very nice.
The food was the worse part of choosing this establishment. The people were nice and that made it more difficult to express the disappointment of the food. We ordered orange chicken and general sao. We could not taste the difference and we didn’t detect any spice and we ordered the general sao spicy. The quantity of the steamed rice was scarce and of low quality. The egg roll tasted like fried dough, we couldn’t even taste the other ingredients that we could see and the ground beef in the egg roll was pale and gray. One sauce looked like spicy mustard but tasted like what furniture paint remover smells like. Absolutely unappetizing. Very nice people, but the food was not good.
The karaoke was fun. There's a bar for drinks and they also do soda pitchers. Gratuity is automatically applied at 20%. Only high tops to sit at. A few songs had poor lip sync to the video. You can tell the system has English as an afterthought but it was nice to have access to a private karaoke room this far from where they are popular.
They are not attentive to their customers' needs. They forgot to give me utensils. Didn't ask me is I needed something to drink.
Ordered delivery with Uber eats. Yen food came well packaged. I enjoyed the flavor of the ramen. The sushi was very fresh. I had Chashu Ramen Soup
Mackerel Sushi,
PHILADELHIA ROLL,
YELOWTAIL ROLL,
SPICY TUNA ROLL,
SAKURA ROLL,
RED BEACH ROLL,
TUNA LOVER ROLL,
SALMON AVO ROLL.
The VEGETARIAN EGG ROLLs came as a set of 3 and had a good flavor. The PAN FRIED PORK DUMPLINGs were done well & TAKOYAKI.
Would try this location again.
