Wo Hop – Classic Chinatown Spot with Delicious Food (Cash Only)
I recently visited Wo Hop, one of the oldest Chinese restaurants in Chinatown, and it did not disappoint. I tried the old-fashioned chow mein and shrimp dumpling soup. The portion sizes were generous, and the food was really yummy. I went on a weekday, so the line wasn’t long, and the service was quick. It’s important to note that Wo Hop is cash-only, so be prepared! The prices are reasonable, making it a great spot for a classic, hearty meal. I’ll definitely be coming back.
90 years old and still going strong. Great Chinese food, as authentic as possible. We had soup, duck fried rice, roast pork lomain, and black bean squid, spear ribs one beer. It's extremely tasty and fresh as it's all made to order. Bit pricey I thought, $94 for 3, but then the last time I was here was 30+ years ago. Definitely be back!
I want to start off by saying that I'm not a local to New York so it was a blessing coming across this spot.
I was walking through chinatown and came across this place and decided to give it a try. Aside from the food tasting very good and the service being quick and efficient I had a very good conversation with one of the men who work here. Very friendly and professional. I recommend this place 100% if you are looking for a good overall experience!!!
We came for the dumplings. The quality of the food and exceptional service sets Wo Hop apart from the other restaurants in China Town. The staff are attentive and ready for any request from customers. We each had egg drop soup, perfect consistency, not to thick and not at all watery. And now to the reason we stopped by, the fried dumplings. Every bite the batter would perfectly crunch from the golden fried batter. No excess oil and the filling was generous and tasteful.
This place gets a ton a business and they’ve got quite the operation going on. Have been twice now within the last year and the food has been amazing both times. Don’t recommend for large parties as it is a tight space in the dining area. This food lives up the hype in my opinion. Also, the appetizer and entree portions are LARGE; one entree can easily feed 2-3 people.
Went here for a dinner with my parents when visiting new york after seeing it had good reviews, and it definitely lived up to them! it's rather unassuming from the outside but the food is fantastic, we had to queue about 10 minutes to get in, but it is worth the wait! i definitely recommend coming here, and getting the chicken and sweetcorn soup
During high school. My cousins and I used to come here after midnight for munchies. I can’t believe it is still open. The amazing thing about this is they’re still open, still have the identical menu, the same wonderful glorious foods we used to eat and cozy up to! So I ordered the same exact dishes from decades ago and the memories from my past came true today. Been dreaming about returning here for the longest time. The food is amazing and as always everyone is so friendly. Reminder this is a cash-only restaurant for a heads up. Please enjoy this wonderful place. I will always come here to eat when in town. It is my favorite place to eat in Chinatown ????
Wo Hop, nestled in the heart of Chinatown, is a quintessential New York City spot that has been serving up comfort food for decades. It’s a family favorite whenever we visit the city and crave Chinese food. The ambience is a blend of old-school charm, no-frills authenticity, and a lively atmosphere. The food is as comforting as the ambience, with generous portions and bold flavors that keep patrons coming back for more.
Make note that this is a CASH only restaurant.
