I was taken here after a nasty car accident. Definitely not my first choice for care. ER is understandably busy. I was in the ER for over 5 hours. No pain medication or anything given until I was there for a few hours. The doctor was frequently distracted but attentive when he finally saw me. I was given something after I was there at least three hours. The staff is really stretched to their limits. I am thankful I was conscious enough to advocate for myself. The staff and my doctor were helpful.....when I saw them. If you need help you will wait....so plan ahead. Doctor I had was ok but seemed indifferent to what was happening with me. Not reassuring at all. Definitely made me want a second opinion on any diagnosis. The techs and nurses are really great though.
My mother, 87, was brought in by ambulance with a broken wrist and shoulder. Pain meds were ordered around 4:30 +/-. It’s 5:35 pm and my mother is writhing in pain after I went to the nurse’s station TWICE! Nurse Stephanie is not paying attention to her patient and hasn’t checked on her since I got here at 3:45pm. I had to throw a fit in the hallway to get another nurse to find Stephanie. This is disgraceful.
Our Dr was great, radiology was great. Granted everyone part of the hospital is short handed, but 1 hour is too long to wait .
Stephanie just came in, she was short with my mother when she said she was here now with the pain pill. I said it’s been over an hour. She’s in pain!
Not a good experience!
So a turn of events. My mom had a bad reaction and 4 nurses were on it in less than 30 seconds. Im still not thrilled with how the first half of this visit went, but I’m very happy with how it turned out.
Absolutely atrocious hospital with horrible staff! If you refuse medicines they give you a tranquilizer shot. The triage staff and nurses are a joke! They play on there phones. You go there for help and leave crying!
Horrible Hospital to go to if you have an emergency. They need to take patients more seriously when they say they have a drug allergy. Yet, very very often actually, they do not listen to you and will administer a drug sometimes with extreme force. Also, some staff when assigned to a patient are often fiddling with their phones, sometimes even on headphones which, come on, you are at work and its very unprofessional to be constantly distracted with that mobile device. Also, more than quite a few of the staff there have this tendency to act very unkind, rude to patients, and seem to not have as much compassion for others as they ought to. On top of that, sometimes the doctors order prescriptions for your treatment that are known to cause symptoms of psychosis, increase in suicidal thoughts and actions and increased impulsivity in children and young adults. A family member was killed here because of them administering a fatal injection. They were extremely allergic to this drug, and they neither listened, nor did they even pay him any mind as he was dying! That was back in 1999.
But, they still have been doing the same thing and worse things to people behind closed doors even in recent years.
For this reason,
I am going to file a lengthy complaint with the US Department of Health and Human Services, Office for Civil Rights.
And maybe, just maybe someone there will listen and investigate the goings on at Mid Hudson Region Hospital and force them to reform, and do away with the old, dangerous, outdated medications, in lieu for safer alternatives, and better inpatient treatment.
Update to my previous review listed above^^^^
It seems from what I have heard from others in the community and other news sources, that some level of reform or positive change has been taking place in this hospital. I am hopeful that this truly is the case. I still would prefer Kingston or Ellenville Hospitals over this one, as I have had better experiences with the staff their when treated for medical emergencie(s) thank you everyone who has been praying for this hospital’s conditions and treatment of patients to improve. May God bless y’all! <3
This is awful place.
A nurse told us my son had dinner first night but he wasn't offer it. She also told us that he refused to provide parent information so that they cannot contact us asap but he actually told it when he registered. They didn't call parents 3 hours after he registered and explained us that it was my son's fault.
After he came in this facility, he was heard only once "are you okay?" from the nurse assistant who is only person seems work properly and no one check his room and his condition. Other adult patients are walking around. He heard a guy entered woman's room and a nurse gave him warning twice "do not enter and touch her." At same night one guy standard in front of his room and look at him for quite long time. His door isn't locked and open upper half so that any one can enter if they try.
Yesterday I arrived at the ER at 9:28 am. I sat there 3.5 hours and saw no one until I complained(had severe back pain with surgery coming up on 10/29). Wanted to be sure it would not affect my surgery. Finally saw the triage nurse and then back to the waiting room. Finally brought in the doctor came in spent 10 min. gave me a script and walked out and I was discharged. I was told there was a trauma event but for all that time no explanation. Would never go there again unless it was the ONLY choice. The security guard said I should be on the payroll for being there so long.
I waited in the emergency room with a friend who had a kidney stone. He received appropriate care and medication from a caring nurse and physician’s assistant. The wait times for care are too long. After being admitted to the emergency room, it took a minimum of 20 minutes between every time a care provider visited us and care was administered. 20 minutes to see the PA, 20 -30minutes to see the nurse who administered pain meds. 5 hours later we were discharged but it took an hour and a half between the time we were told and where’s out. The staff is caring but needs help and a better logistics system. Next time I will consider another hospital just because of the wait time.
My mother and sister were in a bad car accident last year. The trauma team was absolutely incredible. Top notch doctors and attention. Always explaining EVERYTHING and caring and compassionate. However, just recently, my mother was brought in to the ER and admitted on to Cooke. So far, the medications we brought for her are supposedly missing. They say it's in the hospital pharmacy, but not sure yet. She is missing a ring, her shoes and her coat. Head of security said they will investigate and just yesterday, she fell.in her room.and broke her shoulder . How exactly does that happen if they know she was a fall risk? They say they can't give a me a copy of the Incident report because everything is computerized??
I am extremely disappointed with this hospital. I thought the professionalism, compassion, and attentiveness would have been the same as it was on CCU floor, but obviously it stops there. Very disappointing.
