We had a wonderful stay at Winter Haven. We visited in late November 2024. The front staff were very friendly and helpful. Cristina in particular went above and beyond. The room was immaculate. The location is amazing and the hotel's restaurant with patio seating for people watching is terrific. It's right next door to Havana 1957 restaurant, which has great food and live Cuban music at dinnertime on weekends. Winter Haven is highly recommended for South Beach visits when you want to be right in the heart of the action.
This is no longer a Marriott FYI but the rooms haven’t changed— very nice! Great location on the beach, with rooms that are comfortable and clean. We love to see a ceiling fan in hotel rooms, and the AC also worked really well. There was NO sign or smell of mildew, which can be common in places in Miami. The bathrooms are very small and you can’t have the shower door open or it hits the bathroom door. There’s a mini fridge and also lavazza coffee maker in the room. Would definitely stay here again and the resort fee was only $25 or so.
The Room that we had was very small but clean. Coffee, Water, Beach Towls and Chairs on the Beach are included in the hotel/resort extra fee (22$ per night). Parking with the car is expensive with almost 50$ per day.
The Service on the front desk is very good. The room/cleaning service was really bad. They cleaned the room always way to late. The hotel isn‘t that big, so I would expect a room service to be done until 12 pm.
I wouldn‘ t recommend room 308. It‘s very noisy (it‘s to the inside of the building, where the compressor of the air condition is mounted). You can‘t open the window to get fresh air.
Besides that, it takes quite some time to get the elevator. Either the employees use it a lot of time or it just needs too long.
To mention some positive things: The location of the hotel is very good. Near the beach, surrounded by many restaurants and a supermarket + the hotel overall is very clean.
The Winter Haven Hotel is in a prime location with the best value for money and friendly and attentive service. Upon arriving, I was warmly greeted and attended to by Cristina, offered a welcome drink by another staff member who also helps with luggage and was always quick to smile and say hello. Tye is also great with friendly service and personable with guests. Also appreciated were complimentary water bottles everyday, even without my asking, and towels for the beach. You can also rent bicycles and compared to other hotels, the resort fee is more economical. The bedroom and washroom was compact, clean, and key to remember is this is an art deco hotel. The staff are friendly, humble, down to earth, and ready to help in whatever way they can.
Hotel has great location. Amenities are okay but we asked a room with ocean view. We had an adapted room close to the emergency exit. Size 9f it was good. We were 2 adults and 2 kids, however the bathroom.. OMG!! Was really small also it hay an old smell, like mold. The cleaning staff new we were 4 in the room m every day I had to ask for an extra towel ????.
I'm conclusion hotel is fine just the bathroom did not like a bit.
The location and installation of the hotel are amazing! Food and bar are also pretty good! The only complain that I have if with some people from the staff. During my first day, I didn’t have any issues but when I arrived at night during my second night, neither the valet parking and the front desk personal believe I was staying at the hotel until I showed them my key. I do not use suits at Miami Beach but, that doesn’t mean that I am not able to stay here. I felt judged by my appearance and as a Marriott member, this has never happen in any of the hotels I stated before.
However, the other staff that helped me during my first day and during the day were amazing and extreme helpful and friendly!!
Literally “room with a view”. The hotel has been renovated and I was very happy with my “high floor ocean view room”. Totally worth paying the premium. It offered the most beautiful view of the sun rise without having to leave the room. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful.
Location is perfect as it is right on South Beach. It’s one-minute walk to the beach. Just have time walk across the pedestrian street.
The reason I did not give 5 star for the room was because the bathroom was size of closet. The shower is really tiny with tight space.
When I booked the room, I expected it to be renovated, but I didn’t realize they hadn’t upgraded the air conditioning system. The AC was extremely loud, and this seems to be the case in all the rooms.
On the positive side, the service was excellent and very friendly, and the location is fantastic—just a quick walk across the street to reach the beach.
