Just traveling through and we found the most amazing restaurant. The fried mushrooms are out of this world. They are huge and delicious. They have a wonderful menu. I can’t think of anything that I would not eat. I will definitely stop here again and again.
Slow service. Ordered a pizza and cheese fries with no bacon or chives for the wife. Took long for the cheese fries to come out and our waitress said "sorry, I told them no chives but the grill said he's tired" The pizza tasted cheap.
Also the floor was dirty with trash just laid around. It just seemed like the staff didn't care and were just waiting out the clock.
Food came fresh, fast, and hot. They don't call themselves the king for nothing! A great place for going out with friends, family, or yourself.
The Filet mignon was so tender that I could cut it with my butter knife! Delicious ????. The chicken tenders were very good quality meat. And the breading was very tasty. We were very pleased with our first visit there.
This was our first and last visit. We were sat and waited almost 10 minutes for a server. We finally ordered our food, my husband had lasagna it was warmed up gooey looked like throw up mesouthweordered the southwest chicken with baked potatoes. Potato was still a little cold in the middle. It took almost 40 minutes to get our mediocre food. Staff walked around like they did not want to be there or even dealt with. No smiles nothing. I was absolutely disappointed from this whole experience. Not worth the 50 we spent.
Food was pretty good and reasonably priced but service was awful. Waitress didn’t seem to care, ignoring us 30 minutes before even taking our order. Appetizers empty plates remained on the table till we left. If it went for the fact that this pretty much the only game in town, we would have walked out. On a positive side the Cowboy steak was very good.
We arrived at 7:30, thinking they closed at 9 per the times listed online, however they had temporary hours listed on the door that indicated they closed at 8. We asked if it was too late to get a table, and were told it was just fine. We sit down and order... and wait. And wait. And wait. During this time I had to go get a waitress to take my drink order twice. The coke that was ordered was completely flat and tasted as if it came out of a bottle. Finally after waiting almost an hour we tell the waitress we can't stay any longer. Miraculously our food arrives with the waitress telling us rudely "the kitchen apologizes they couldn't get the food out fast enough for you." Mind you, during the hour we were there, not one person checked on us, we had to go ask for refills and there was not one apology about the wait or lack of service. And again, we had no problem going somewhere else but they continued to seat people after we arrived. Let's get to the food. To our dismay the pizza was completely undercooked (I'm guessing they yanked it out of the oven when they heard we were leaving), the chicken tenders were soggy, old, tough pieces of meat that had a funny taste, the steak fries had rotten parts. At this point we tell the waitress we're not going to eat the food and to bring us a check for the two coffees we had. She says she'll be right back and... we wait another fifteen minutes before finally going up to the counter to cash out. They had no problem charging us for the drinks - non alcoholic - after the atrocious experience we had. We never received an apology, nothing, just a bill. Im not sure if it was an off night but our experience was the wait staff and kitchen do not care about the customers and if you want to be treated like a burden this is the place for you!
Winstead's is great in that I feel like I am eating at a new restaurant everytime I order. There is absolutely no consistency in their quality or service. I've had really terrible meals (cold soggy sweet potato fries with one really old regular fry mixed in and somehow terrible salads) and really good meals (pizza and sometimes mozzarella sticks). But it's pretty bad when family visiting from out of town told me I should get a refund because they have overcooked and undercooked food in the same order. It's always a gamble eating there on what you'll get and unfortunately I don't feel like taking my chances anymore!
