I was nothing but respectful throughout the service. The waiter we had was very “bold” and pushed the boundaries of people’s comfort zones. I have never been so disrespected by a waiter/waitress anywhere I’ve ever been.
We went in thinking that it would be a great, cheap meal but instead they charged us double for getting an extra patty for a burger. The burger came to $20! The waiter did not disclose that it would be this much extra for an extra patty nor does it say in the menu how much it is! The service was subpar and needs work. Next time when we want to spend $90 for dinner for two we will be going somewhere else.
The wait staff are very friendly and attentive. The food was abysmal, though. I can't believe that the food we were brought, except for the fries, was almost lukewarm. It tasted like it was pre-made and warmed up in the oven instead of freshly made. It definitely isn't worth the price. Although, the chicken fingers and waffles were delicious. The waffle was lightly crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The chicken fingers tasted excellent. They had a crisp fresh batter and were moist on the inside. The colors were kind of tacky, and the carpet was outdated.
Once upon a time, Winona Family Restaurant was amazing. I was a student here up till 2019 and went several times a week. I recently moved back and was excited to come here and enjoy the breakfast. Well I was pretty disappointed. I got the steak omelette. It came out cold, with no toppings, and with 2 bites of hash browns. On top of that, I paid a pretty hefty price for a drink that never got refilled. Jump forward to a few days ago, I take my fiancée there in the hopes that maybe it was just an off day for the diner. Well I can now confirm it wasn’t just an isolated incident. Again had bad service, we sat there for 15 minutes before someone came and asked what we wanted to drink and give us menus. He then asked right away if we already knew what we wanted to eat after only giving us the menu like 15 seconds before. And was mad that we didn’t know. Comes back another 15 minutes later with our drinks and asked what we’d like to eat. We both decide to order lunch instead of breakfast. I got the Winona Burger, and it was awful. I mean it was a few pieces of chopped romaine lettuce (for a salad) and barely melted cheese. Hardly any fries. Plus our appetizer came out after our meals did. I will give another chance if they even actually respond to this review. It’s pretty disappointing to have such a fond memory destroyed because they either gave up or just have a bad team of people now. Who knows.
Food was good and hot. They had the place all nice and decorated for Halloween. Loved that, not very place takes the time to do this. Only bad part was had to wait a long time for our bill, so long we just go up with out one cuz the waiter never came back to even check on us.
Outstanding breakfast - laid back atmosphere - and terrific service! The staff was super friendly and accommodating. The food was 10/10. We came for breakfast with a group of 8 and we’re quickly sat and promptly served. I’d recommend them for anyone and anyone with kids. The prices were very affordable as well!
Do not go here. My husband got one cup of coffee, even though it was a mostly empty restaurant. The prices are outrageous, considering the small amount of food you get. I ordered a piece of cinnamon French toast, 2 pieces of bacon and an egg. I ordered over easy and it came scrambled. The French toast was about a 3x3 inch piece of bread or maybe made from a slice of cinnamon roll. The bacon tasted good, but that's about the only positive thing I can say about that breakfast. I was hungry 2 hours later.
At first glance I wasn't sure what to expect. It looks a little bit dated and the menu is large. Our experience was as good as you can hope for. The food was absolutely amazing, the service was good - very comfortable and very fairly priced. Yes it's open - go on in.
