I so badly want to like this place. My third time here and my third time being completely disappointed in simple American food!
First off, once you get a table the service is actually pretty good. People are friendly, and there’s a great jovial atmosphere in the space. I have NEVER had a bad server!
All that said, on this my third trip I waited over four minutes for a table. May not sound like much to some, however, when you are waiting for a table during your midday lunch break, timing is huge! After being seated, things were fine.
((Tip for Resturant) If people are waiting to be seated, and no one is there to pick up food, have the person at the front register get people to tables, it feels lazy when they’re just standing there looking at their phone while there’s a line waiting for tables!)
Ordered a bacon cheeseburger, medium rare with a side of onion rings. They charge extra for onion rings, which is fine, however, the quantity given to me was less than the fries they gave other customers at base price!
Why pay extra and get less?
To top it all off, the Burger I ordered medium rare was presented beyond well done. Dry, hockey puck.
This is my only review here, but my 3rd attempt to enjoy a meal here. Maybe it’s better in the evening or when games are on?
First time here, got seated quickly and the server was right with us. They have a standard selection of bar food with their own twist on them. The food took a little while but our drinks (one tap beer and one mixed drink) came relatively soon the food was decent nothing crazy. The burgers are pretty big and the prices are decent. Their house BBQ sauce seems popular, but to me it taste like McDonald's BBQ sauce and didn't really do anything for me
Winking Lizard in downtown Cleveland is a great sports bar with plenty of screens around the room, making it perfect for catching a game. They have an extensive beer selection, including cans, bottles, and drafts. The food menu looks fantastic, with regular specials and meals available on certain days of the week.
I had the Gyros, which was really nice. The meat was delicious and of great quality. Personally, I would have added a bit more heat, but I could have just asked for some hot sauce—no complaints there.
Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience, and I would definitely return for a working lunch or to hang out with friends.
Tasty food, and some of the best service I've received at the restaurant. Even though they were packed with an 1hr+ wait (we waited about 30 minutes), the server gave us plenty of attention and did not make us feel rushed. Great TV screen selection, no having to crane my head to catch a different screen. The food was reasonably priced, got a full meal for under $20. Would go back!
My son, my sister and her child had a day trip to Cleveland a couple of days ago and we picked Winking Lizard for lunch. We were very happy with our food and server. He was very attentive but not bothersome. Our food was hot and fresh and also delicious. My sister and I split 2 different white pizzas and chicken wings (bone in and boneless). You can only pick one sauce so we split our orders ???? The atmosphere was pub-like with music and several TVs around the inside. The music was kinda loud where we were seated, but only bothered my nephew because it was their type of music. They did offer outdoor seating but we noticed as we walked up that there were no umbrellas and it was a very sunny day so we passed on sitting outside. I should also mention that they do offer take out. I hope you enjoy the Winking Lizard as much as we did.
We really enjoyed this restaurant in downtown Cleveland. Joys of outside space as well as roomy and fun interior with lots of tvs to watch your favorite teams/sporting events. Service was great and hostesses and wait staff were friendly. Food was tasty and good selection of beers.
It was a pleasant experience. The ambience was great, the staff were friendly, and the food was delicious.
Ambience: There were many TVs playing sports channels, making it an ideal place for watching games. I also loved their music playlist.
Service: The staff were professional, friendly, and welcoming. There was no wait time, and the food took about 15 minutes to prepare.
Food: I tried the small deluxe pizza and the BBQ boneless wings. I went again and tried their big Ed burger. All dishes were delicious, with good portion sizes that were quite filling. The deluxe pizza was my favorite, and I highly recommend it!
Valet at our hotel suggested we grab lunch a the Winking Lizard. It was a hot Cleveland afternoon and we were hoping for a place with some AC. The inside was full so we had to sit outdoors. (we did not want to wait to sit inside) Whew, it was hot and no misters to help out a bit. That is the less than optimal.
The service was great. Our server was attentive and efficient. Lots of choices on the menu. I picked a bottled beer a Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale. Not my best choice but it arrived quickly and was cold. My wife ordered a cocktail and she enjoyed it.
Food was solid and good. My wife had a Steak Salad and I had a burger. It would of been better with AC ????
What surprised me is that in Cleveland at 1pm on a weekday the city seems quiet. The Winking Lizard was busy but there seemed to be nobody else in the city. I guess this speaks highly for the Winking Lizard.
Would go back but would sit inside.
