After 20+ years of patronizing this local bar, I'm done. The decor improvements were needed. The food is pretty consistent. Except for one particular bartender, the service is lacking. We ate at the bar Wednesday. I had to wave the bartender down whenever we needed anything. It wasn't busy. Maybe the cashew dispenser was in the way? Oh yeh, the Yuengling was flat again. I had to buy an overpriced bottle to get a fresh beer. I skipped eating and went to O'Hara's for fresh beer and a meal. This used to be a fun place.
Forgot to take photos on the first visit "Delish Bloody Mary", but scroll down for details and photos from my visit today.
Delish Bloody Mary -- spiced and heat to order. Had a hankering for a burger, and WINGS and ALE have other fine entrees to go with their awesome wings. Got my burger with Swiss and ran it through the garden -- lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, and onions!! Fries were crispy and hot! So come for wings, burgers, salads or sandwiches, Wings & ALE have you covered!!
"Visit Today". Needed an attitude adjustment. Shot of Casamigos, lime, and no salt -- and a nice cold Corona Light on the side.
Before checking out the menu I queued up some music on TouchTunes.
Was looking for a starter, and the Chicken Crack caught my eye. It's deep-fried, skinless chicken bits! I got the honey mustard and ranch sauces -- why get just one when you can get both??
The French Dip with a side of celery was the main attraction. Nicely warmed hoagie roll with roast beef and au jus for the dipping. Hit the spot.
Now the fella down the bar ordered a plate of wings, so I grabbed a photo of his meal, too. I mean, the place is named WINGS 'N ALE. Now scurry on over and "gitchu some". You'll be glad you did.
Went to watch a Gamecocks football game and at Half time a band started playing. The entire bar emptied out save for a few Pelionaires dancin! Timing of the band was a poor choice because they were good but not during the game. Food was good, it was fast and fresh. Will make sure next time that there's no band during football games. And yes they will card you so bring your ID. Why is this even a discussion. Youre going to a bar bring your ID.
I love this local establishment. They have karaoke on Tuesdays with DJ Stingray. He is a great host and you should see some of the talent that comes out for karaoke. Some nights it's like watching a real bonafide American Idol finale!! The food is amazing and the staff are extremely accommodating. I have special dietary needs and ordering off a menu can be frustrating. The kitchen and our server Tiffany took great care of me. Tiffany was warm friendly kind and attentive. Also the ranch dressing is made in house and it is so, so delicious! Thank you for the great experience!
Decent food, good service and a nice locals place. In my opinion, the recent remodel sadly turned it from having the feeling of a cool corner bar with a slightly rough-arpund-the-edges appearance, but still a super welcoming place, into a church bingo hall.
Good food great service pool tables in great shape and they have live music. Definitely a cool spot to come hang
This is an outstanding venue for live music. They try to bring in bands from outside the area to offer a variety. They have a spacious bar area plus a room dedicated to just the band. Video games, billiards and large TV’s everywhere. A little something for everyone…oh and the food is great to. Don’t let the facade fool you as it did us for many years. Go in and you will not be disappointed.
What a great time we had here! Not many places you go will sit a party of 8 right away. These folks did so, on a very busy Saturday evening.
Of course I always order chicken wings when I go to any Wings & Ale place; so you can imagine my assessment of the food will be the standard GREAT.
As crowded as it was, with live music blasting, the service was still very good. Our meal was served within the typical and tolerable time period; and drink refills flowed constantly.
All three generations of my family enjoyed themselves.
