Best WLM Reviews
Great walking distance to Niagara through the park along the river (about 20 mins)
Overnight parking included in our stay, right outside the building.
Big enough room, we had a double queen room for three of us, very spacious.
The two ladies on reception were really nice and helpful.
Negatives:
We were only given one bath towel (I think by mistake as we had two extra bath mats instead), we asked about 9pm for more towels, then chased it up an hour later, they said they would pass it onto housekeeping but we never received them. It was an automated messaging service.
We ended up having to go to reception in the morning to get towels ourselves.
Breakfast was lack lustre, only limited choices and horrible coffee.
In the room, the kitchenette didn’t include a kettle, so we couldn’t make tea. There was only a microwave and a coffee machine. There are cups provided but they said do not microwave so we had to improvise with the coffee machine to run through hot water.
I am English, I make tea with a kettle!
We were only staying for one night and were checking out at 11am, the cleaning team tried three times between 9-10am to get into the room to clean, even though we were leaving that morning.
The bathroom was mostly clean, apart from a used contact lens stuck to the wall above the bin, so a little more attention to detail when cleaning is required.
Our room was not 100% clean. (See review on rooms.) When we asked to move to another room we were declined because “management didn’t want us to be dissatisfied with the next room and ask to move again.” Breakfast was bare minimum. The staff was nice and the pool was warm, which is the only reason this place gets 4 stars, not 3. It’s an economical option, but you kind of get what you pay for.
The location is great, but that's where the good stops. The room was not clean at all when we checked into it. We went back down to the desk, and the gentlemen said that he would leave a note for the manager. How does that get my room cleaned? I asked if there were any housekeeping or houseman staff, and he said he wasn't sure. Wow! So I then asked for a broom, mop, and cleaning supplies. I went and cleaned my own room. The next day, coming down for breakfast, there was no sausage, eggs, or anything, just pancakes and toast. Then we went to the desk to let them know about our room cleanliness issues from our arrival the day before and the "supervisor" comes from the back 10 minutes later and says that she wasn't supposed to be there that day but she thought she would handle us after the front desk person convinced her to come out. That was not as funny as she thought it was. We showed her the pictures of our room and explained the situation, and she gave a half apology and said that she would give us something off the bill. I received my folio yesterday, and it was a total of $50 a two night stay. Are you kidding? To clean my own room on a weekend getaway with my wife? This was terrible all the way around.
They were gracious to let us check in early, said the room was ready. Told us breakfast was 7:30 -9:30. The toilet was broken and TV wasn't working, they sent a maintenance man up immediately, the cable box was hanging, he fixed that and it was easy, he had to replace the toilet seat. There was no breakfast at 9: 15 and everything was cleaned up. No food. The soap dispenser in the shower had enough soap for part of a shower and wasn't refilled. Shampoo dispenser also ran out but it was replaced. We asked for a couple of towels and they were replaced but the dirty ones on the floor as instructed were not picked up, trash was not emptied. No hand towel holder available. The room was nice and big, the beds comfortable. The walls thin our neighbor was talking loudly to someone on phone at 5 AM. Everyone was pleasant.
Front desk very slow and extremely rude and passive aggressive for no reason. Room next to us was so loud partying. It was 10:00pm and front desk said they can party loud until 11pm. The floors are vinyl not carpet and the doors are connecting other rooms and there is a massive gap under the door so you are basically in the other room so the sound was terrible. Called front desk at 1am, 2am,3am and no answer and the other room was screaming until 5am. Nightmare. Coffee was horrible. The mattress was basically cardboard and the pillows were rocks. The doors to the bathroom drag on the floor. You get what you pay for that’s what I’ll say.
About what you would expect for a low-mid range hotel. We were upgraded to a Suite due to over-booking, but the staff didn't mention it so we were surprised. The lobby was full of noisy kids running around without supervision. The room was clean and quiet, but needs some maintenance work done.
Location is not that bad, close to goat island. Room service is EVERY 3 DAYS. They will not do your bedsheets or pillows or that until 3 days after. Same breakfast every single day. If you need anything, you have to ask the front desk: soap, towels, toilet paper. Floor was dirty when we entered. Had another friend in a different room tell me his bathroom flooded, and when he spoke to the front, they gave him a bucket and a mop and the family had to clean it themselves. Bedsheets were kind dirty too. I don’t know if they actually cleaned or just re-did them from the previous guests. Our own bathroom toilet had a leak in the back. TV don’t really work, channels are weird. We had 2 different ones with two different remote but you had to use both remotes to open one TV. You can also hear the sounds from other rooms and people walking the hallways super loudly. Gym is small, about 3 machines, and they break down after 10 minutes like the treadmill. Had a lot of dust and hairballs on the floor. Also charged me twice for 2 separate payments, then had to wait the following day to speak with the manager. Also, room card deactivated on its own so we had to get a new one, but just super inconvenience. Overall poorly run hotel, won’t ever be booking again.
Positive: Near restaurants and access to the falls park. Negative: Check in with as at 3:00 room wasn?t ready no staff had cleaned it. Given a second room no heat a third room was offered. Shampoo was empty in the shower and body soap was as empty and to top it off coffee pot was missing parts didn?t work.
