The rooms are not clean. The baseboard are falling down. The hardware on the sink and lamps are old and corroded. There is no WI-FI in the room. No room service you must take your towels to the front desk for an exchange. We arrived at 3:50 but were turned away and told to come back at 4:00 check in time. Parking is $15 per night. There is no coffee in the room. The coffee in the breakfast room was barely drinkable. I feel this place should be completely renovated before renting out rooms. People that stay here on Saturday or Sunday night are just going to the cruise ship port the next day.
So, the location and the lady working the desk when we checked in were great! The rooms and the lady when we checked out were not. I know they were recovering from the hurricane, but that's no excuse for what we experienced. When we checked into the first room, we noticed a weird smell. Our dog walked to the door, then had to be dragged into the room. He did not want to go in at all, and later realized why. We were all in need of showers, so we unpacked quickly and rinsed off. When we finally had a chance to take a break we noticed the weird smell getting stronger. When the wife leaned over to plug in her cell phone charger the smell hit her like a Mac truck. There was vomit under the table between the beds. I forgot to mention the cockroach I found dead, I then flushed it. Not one minute later, my daughter went to use the bathroom and another roach was in the toilet. Roof tiles were missing and more had fallen more recently than the storm. So watch out from above. We moved to a new room that was a whole lot better. It was missing toilet paper and had lotion in the conditioner spot, but a big difference in the two rooms. Bring your own pillows and blankets if you can, there's suck or don't exist. This was a last minute booking without looking at reviews. Oh, so you don't get in a bind, make sure your room has TP. Our second room didn't, but I come prepared.
We were going to be in Galveston one night and the rate wasn't bad so I booked here. We checked in at 4 PM and the lady at the desk was very nice. Went to the room and it was a disaster. Baseboards were either missing or taped on the wall. The lamps were rusty and the whole room looked like it had been damaged by a hurricane. We dropped our bags and went to eat and shop and I figured we were only sleeping there so we could tolerate it. We came back about 9 PM and started getting ready for bed.|My daughter discovered roaches running everywhere in the bathroom. I said take a shoe and swat them. She killed 14! After that we had enough and started calling other hotels. We checked out about 9:30 P.M. and I asked for a refund. The desk lady apologized but couldnt give me one and said call back and speak to a manager. I did so the next morning and he would not give a refund. He did offer a refund of the $15 parking fee! Needless to say I will never walk in the door of this dump again.
At the moment of checking in, I was made aware that the card Booking provided to them was not working for them to receive payment. I don't see how that would be an issue for me. As I obviously had the booking complete and paid for. That should have been something the hotel should deal with Booking. Nevertheless they told me they would need a card ONLY for incidentals and there would be no pending/authorizations taken from the account. Come to find out on the following morning I had not one but 2 pending charges coincidentally of the exact same amount the hotel room had cost us to book. Now I'm out of that money for the following week until my bank is able to release and refund my balance. And to top it off our room had all the floor siding fallen off and was exposing what looked like mold/mildew and seemed soaking wet. We brought it up to their attention only to have them show us all the other rooms were exactly the same and that this was a result of the previous hurricane. Result of outdoor damage or not. This is not okay to continue to use and take people's money if they are putting their health at risk
Rooms need updating and cleaning. I understand the hurricane caused damage but seriously at least clean the shower the sink and the floors. The only thing really clean was the towels and bedding. Front desk people are sweet and attentive. Housekeeping is never seen. But the area is great. Right across from the Gulf of Mexico. The beach was cleaner than the last time I stayed here. Such a beautiful view
The check in process is horrible. Huge lines. Then issues with key cards. The staff is overwhelmed and many customers treat staff bad due to long lines. Housekeeping is extremely helpful and goes above and beyond to help but rooms often are not cleaned well between guests (mostly just sand but it's all over) due to staff just short handed and overwhelmed. Air conditioner works great, breakfast is lovely location is phenomenal and price is great. The pool is also very nice and the hotel is safe.

We got in early and was told we can’t get our room until 4:00. No problem they let us keep our suitcases behind the desk.
It was raining and windy, and we got an Uber for Chick-fil-A.
The rain stopped for a bit so we walked 3 miles and was heading back to the room at 3:00
Now it’s raining and when I walked in they said
I can get our room for $30.00
We were soaked and the hotel was not packed out.
So I thought they would let me get into the room and they said if we pay them they would give us the key. I said no, I know the room was empty along with most of the hotel.
So at 4:00 I checked in, the elevator was broke.
I carried both our bags upstairs. We got into the room and did a Quick Look at it and said there is no way we are staying there.
It’s our Anniversary and I really haven’t seen a hotel this bad before.
The bedding had some stains on it. The floor was dirty, the rubber molding was taped up.
Overall just dirty, so I went down and spoke to the front desk and told them we are not staying there, they didn’t seem surprised at all.
So we left and went to the Spring Hill Hotel and spent $20 more to get a wonderful room for the night.
I’d you read the other reviews you will see this place is Nasty!
And that it should be bulldozed right away.
Thanks Greg
The room they gave us was the wrong room. There was someone in the room already. Did not find out about the $15 parking fee until the room was booked. That's right even though you are renting the room, you still have to pay for parking. No blankets for the room. Just a couple of sheets. Wi-Fi didn't work. Most of the stairs were broken. No elevators at all. Good location is about all I can say about it good.
