Stay here was pretty good! The breakfast is a real good buffet served by friendly staff. It's in a beautiful wooded area with frog pond and trees. It was nice to see the common area still being used by people well into the night. No issues with people noise, but weird sounds coming from the walls. The AC was VERY loud. Our King room was large but had lots of empty space and minimal furniture in decent condition. Locally themed artwork. Chose this spot because it was the lowest price with decent reviews, didn't realize how far out of town it was. Didn't have any issue the whole trip but when we had the room cleaned they did leave the door open and unlocked and forgot the master key inside. Oops
BEWARE WHEN BOOKING!!!!!
This hotel is owned by Charleston Southern University. The University instructed the hotel to cancel all reservations during the winter break and into the first week on January so that the hotel can be utilized as a dorm! They waited until 2 months before my reservation to cancel it and now we are scrambling to find new accommodations because of this. While the management at the hotel was extremely apologetic and this is not there fault at all it is disgusting that a university can just displace people right before, during, and after the holidays. The voicemail I received says "We will not be able to accommodate this reservation as a dorm space and they are taking the entire hotel for dorm space during the duration of your stay." Now my family and I have to spend a few hundred dollars more to try and find somewhere to stay to not miss our niece's first birthday. We had this reservation booked through Expedia since July 11th, 2024. If you are planning on booking this hotel during a time the college is in session or on breaks I would not even consider it.
The entire staff is awesome, but special shout-out to DEBRA!!!! She is phenomenal and professional. By the end of our stay she felt like my good girlfriend from back in the day. Kudos to her!!! She’s a GEM!!! Give her a RAISE IMMEDIATELY!!!!! She’s a keeper!
This place was really nice. Check-in was quick and easy. The room was very comfortable. We had a king room which had a big table and chair, a sofa and very comfortable bed. Lots of room in the bathroom with Dove products. Breakfast is included. Lots and lots to choose from. It's absolutely beautiful eating breakfast looking out at the window at all the trees and amazing surroundings. Highly recommend this hotel.
Wingate has become a regular go-to for overnight or extended stays away from home. This particular location is a favorite when we're in the Charleston area. The rooms are normally very clean. Unfortunately, this time there was a huge clump of hair, big enough to make a wig, stuck to the shower wall. Disgusted but won't alter my overall view and experience.
The rest of the room and the common areas of the hotel appeared to be clean and orderly.
Breakfast was hot and plentiful. The staff was friendly.
Generally, it's a peaceful stay and serene location, tucked off in a corner of a college university. I'll book at this location again in the future.
Wonderful staff even down to housekeeping. I had an early arrival and they accommodated me so I could make a dinner on time. Genuine personalities, hospitality, and customer service. Look forward to putting my money into a genuine business that upholds it's reputation.
||Took the Grands on their first cruise to the Bahamas. The cruise left out of Charleston SC, so we picked up the kids from their there last day of school and drove to Charleston to spend the night. We stayed at Wingate by Wyndham Charleston University Boulevard. ||Pros:||Room was clean and well decorated. ||Overall, the hotel was very quiet||Conveniently located for our needs. We chose Northern Charleston as it was less expensive then down town. ||Cons:||AC unit was stuck on High-speed auto fan so every time the AC came on it was very loud. ||We stayed in a room that had a lovely view overlooking a courtyard patio; however, there were guests laughing and talking until after 11. I had to call the front deck and ask them to be quieter. The guests did oblige. ||
Very nice staff, our room was clean but in need of repairs, I have included photos. The breakfast was just okay, A little more effort would make it better. Box poured scrambled eggs horrible sausage links. The two proteins I wanted and they were sub par. The price to stay here seems to warrant better.
