Best WLM Reviews

Hotel was clean. Even though it says non smoking ... our room smelled smoked in. The mattress was completely worn out. I'm not sure if we were actually sleeping just on a box springs. You could feel all the old fashioned coil springs. I literally could not move when morning came and I was awake all through the night. Horrible experience with the bed. It's very sad that this hotel won't and don't make sure their guests get a good night's sleep...especially for $169. We won't be back.
My hubby and I recently celebrated the first night of our anniversary weekend at Wine Country Inn, and while the experience had its ups and downs, it was overall a decent stay given the budget-friendly price.
The positives first: the hotel is clean, and the staff were consistently pleasant and accommodating, which we appreciated. The continental breakfast offered a simple yet sufficient start to the day, with a variety of options that, while not extravagant, were satisfying. The location is also convenient, making it easy to explore the surrounding wine country.
However, there were a few aspects of our stay that left us a bit disappointed. The bed, unfortunately, was not the most comfortable, and we woke up with some aches that we could have done without on our special weekend. When we arrived, our room was quite hot, which was a bit off-putting, though it did eventually cool down after running the air conditioning for a while.
Noise was also an issue for us, as we could hear a lot of what was happening in the neighboring rooms and hallway, which made it difficult to relax fully. The hotel overall has a no-frills vibe; nothing about it felt particularly special or fancy, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing if you're looking for a simple place to stay without breaking the bank.
In conclusion, Wine Country Inn met our needs, but a few improvements could make it a more comfortable and enjoyable experience. If you're looking for a basic, clean place to stay with friendly service, this might work for you, but don’t expect luxury.
I paid $54.99 the day before Oktoberfest. I asked about extending, and it was $269.99 for the next day!!! For the $55, I think it’s a great value. It was a Motel 6 in a past life, now independent. Clean rooms, decent breakfast; Texas shaped waffles, hard boiled eggs, toast, yogurt, and piping hot coffee from an old school percolator! I was near the lobby, and the elevator makes a “bong” sound late at night and early in the morning. Get a room away from the lobby…
Super clean room . Staff friendly and helpful. Handicapped rooms available. Continental breakfast. Close driving to main shopping street. Good bargain
This was a no frills basic motel room, but was very clean which is my number one criteria when choosing a hotel room.
I gave it a 3-star (3.5 star really) review for the following reasons:
1. Don’t stay here if you’re not accustomed to sleeping on a concrete slab. I’m the type who can typically sleep anywhere on anything, but I woke up three times with pain in my hip and back. It’s like they looked for the cheapest and firmest mattress they could find - and then said make ours even firmer please! ????
2. The A/C is one of those old school motel models that doesn’t have an auto setting. What this means is that the fan runs constantly even if the compressor isn’t running making for a very loud noise throughout the night. Fortunately, I packed earplugs but if I hadn’t I would’ve been SOL!
3. Questionable Bedspread - I like when hotels use white everything and a Duvalay so you can see that it’s clean. This hotel used a dark grey print designed bedspread, which may have been clean but I couldn’t tell. So, it ended up balled up in the corner.
4. Limited Breakfast - breakfast was very limited with waffles, cereal, pastries, yogurt, milk, juice and coffee. Lots of carbs. No protein, although there may have been some boiled eggs. I just grabbed a cup of coffee and kept it going.
The upside is that the staff were all very friendly and again, the hotel was clean. If they swapped out the mattresses with better and more comfortable options I would definitely stay here again, but as-is having an uncomfortable bed is a deal breaker for me regardless of how cheap the rate is. ????????‍♂️
Very clean rooms. In the back there is a small yard, a deck with a grill and a small pool. There's coffee and Continental breakfast in the mornings. A great value and the staff was super nice!!
Positive: Bathroom was clean and had great channels on tv Negative: The beds were hard and the blankets were very thin. We didn?t sleep well at all.
Was unable to sleep properly in the bed. Dog hair was left all over the sheets in a room not designated for dogs. Owners did not seem to show much interest when bringing this to their attention. They did not apologize or offer any compensation. They just said they would let housekeeping know but I did not stay the additional night I booked to see if anything was done about it. Definitely do not recommend this place, there are other way better hotels and inns to stay in Fredericksburg.
