This is a nice campground that seems like the city is slowly building around it. New apartments are being built next door and there is a lot of road work going on out in front. The fire station just down the road was pretty active when we first arrived but yesterday it wasn't too bad (siren noice). The campground is small but laid out to make it easy to navigate. We had a pull through sites that was pretty level. They decorate quite a bit for Halloween around the park which is pretty cute. The grounds are well kept and everything is kept really clean. The staff are all super nice! Definitely would return here for a stay!
This is a top-notch campground with a wonderful team of employees. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The General Manager Leigh was quite pleasant and the front desk staff of Jackie, Jean and Jeneen were a fun bunch. They have everything you need to enjoy your camping trip. The location is ideal for shopping and dining.
We camped here for a week at the end of September. Campsites are clean and spacious. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Bath houses are very clean! I wish there was a bath house on the backside of the grounds... But that would be my only complaint. Lots of activities and a pool. Very kid and dog friendly
Been here last too years for a couple weeks. Today I was walking my dog and a camper had four dogs on a line leash from tree to another tree. The dogs came out aggressively barking and pulling hard. One dog was hanging in mid air. No apology. If my dog had been 3 feet over he would have been dead. Told mgr and they said nothing they ca do. No empathy at all .We will not be back.
The campsites are nice, but can be a mixed bag. We had site 9, a back in full hookup site right next to the entrance and camp store. It was very easy for a novice to back in to, and is close to the amenities. However there were German cockroaches at this site that we had to deal with. This may be due to the proximity to the wooded area and the unusual amount of rain Wilmington has gotten over the past month (August 2024).
We normally stay in the pop-up back in sites by the pond which we prefer, those sites have been nice, and relatively bug invader free.
The bath houses and rest rooms are nice enough, cleaned daily, but the newly renovated showers in the men’s room is already showing their age.
Our stay is a week. The staff are very nice. Restrooms clean and tidy. Grounds are perfect and exceed KOAs standards. Only issue is the growth around the campground. And of course beyond their control. Road construction goes on all night. The back up beeping noise of the dump trucks will make you insane. I kind of understand why this is not told to campers up front. Honestly I would call the state and ask for compensation during this period of road construction. I will not go less than five stars for something that is beyond their control. However. The website should say that the growth construction is pretty loud presently.
I have to say the KOA Holiday Wilmington NC is the most clean, friendly and active camper ground. Very kids and family oriented. The staff going out of there way to help you with anything. Leigh, the Manager is one of the best, she goes beyond and out of her way to make sure this camp ground is the cleanest, her staff is very friendly and customer service is on point. If you haven't stayed you must.
The staff is so friendly. It’s quiet and conveniently close to everything. The cabin is small but that is expected.A small cabin has its pros and cons. The con being its hard to move around when you have a full size family staying there. The pro being the AC cools the whole cabin easily. With it being so small, it keeps you from wanting to be in the cabins unless you are sleeping at night. So I guess that can be a pro too because it gets you out and moving around. The bathrooms are clean! Which is nice because a lot of campgrounds I go to I wouldn’t be able to say that. I do wish they had more events during the week and not just the weekends but that isn’t a deal breaker. There are a lot of amenities here. There’s a pool, banana bikes(which we loved), chess, volleyball, basketball, gem mining and so much more. We will definitely be back :)
