Best WLM Reviews

We are visiting split rock resort and our favorite part was the arcade and bowling. The bowling is inexpensive and so much fun. The best part was the arcade, there are so many fun games and it is kid friendly. The staff is wonderful, specifically Louis. He accommodated us which made our trip. It is open to the public and is a super relaxed place. You should definitely come and try out the resort as well if you’re in town. Definitely visit the arcade!!!
Disappointment at Willowbrook
I recently checked into what I believed to be a refurbished unit at Willowbrook, but my experience has been far from satisfactory. Here’s what I’ve encountered so far:
Upon arrival, I noticed that the unit was not as clean or well-maintained as expected. In fact, the sofa had a noticeable 5-inch tear, which was quite off-putting. To make matters worse, I found dirty underwear left in the bathroom, along with hair scattered throughout the space. A quick inspection of the kitchen and bathroom floors revealed that they had not been properly cleaned, which was very disappointing.
Another concerning issue is the front door of the unit; it is missing the lock mechanism from the frame, raising serious security concerns.
I attempted to call the front desk to report these issues but found no phone in the unit. I eventually reached them on my cell and was assured that someone would come to address the problems. Unfortunately, that was yesterday, and I am still waiting.
As a guest who has frequented Willowbrook for the past 20 years, I have always appreciated the service in the past. However, the noticeable lack of maintenance and very poor customer service this time have compelled me to write this review for the first time.
I hope management takes this feedback seriously and improves the conditions for future guests.
I originally wanted to give it 5 stars because the front desk service was excellent and very patient. However, I hope that customers can be notified in advance if the room is not located at the check-in area to avoid guests wandering around with their luggage. The room facilities are very complete and spacious. I was pleasantly surprised to find a kitchen inside, which made it very convenient for me to cook. My child was very happy because there was a large jacuzzi in the room, but unfortunately, the massage and bubble functions were not working, so it was just a big bathtub. There was no hairdryer in the room, which made it difficult for me to dry my hair after washing it at night. Despite the slightly outdated room equipment, it was clean and did not affect the overall stay experience. Considering the very affordable price, it is a good choice. Even in a room with only one bed, it can accommodate 2-3 people during peak season. The bed is large, and the price is very favorable on weekends. Despite the incomplete room facilities, I would still choose to stay here again because of its great value for money.
Unfortunately the hotel has gone down hill over the years. The room was not cleaned prior to our arrival. The dryers did not work, which unfortunately I did not find out until after I had put my clothes in the washer, forcing me to take a trip to a laundry mat. Pool is always packed, there aren't any activities like their used to be.
I was attending an event at the poconos raceway so I figured my family and I would make a weekend trip out of it in the Poconos.
I’m sure other people had the same idea as a lot of other hotels appeared to be booked. I saw negative reviews about the Split Rock Resort but decided to give it a try anyways.
It was myself, my husband, our 9 month old baby, and our dog for the weekend trip so finding a dog friendly hotel limited our options but thankfully, the Split Rock Resort was accepting dogs.
We stayed at the Willowbrook Resort Building 3 which was more of an apartment with a kitchenette, dining/living room, bedroom, and bathroom.
Honestly; it smelled like mildew in the apartment and it was mostly carpet (except the kitchen and the bathroom) so I can imagine how hard it is to get the smell of the dogs out of the carpet and the curtain covering the back door was very dirty.
The bed was very uncomfortable, we can feel the springs of the mattress digging into our body and it was so loud when we turned over.
The main resort, Split Rock, was okay. We kept hearing so many people making complaints throughout the resort and to the staff at the front desk. People even shouted at others about to check in while they were outside the resort saying not to come in because it was a waste of their time and money.
As for me and my family, we don’t need much and we made a great time out of what we could. We really loved the arcade in the resort and just enjoyed walking around, even though majority of the building looked run down and needed repairs.
I’d suggest going to local restaurants for food and just try to explore in the area.
Driving around the resort was nice and going on walks with our dog was nice too as there were a lot of deer in the area.
Overall, I think the resort was okay, the staff did their best to make us feel welcomed and kept a positive attitude despite the multiple people complaining to them and again, my family and I are simple people so we did make the most out of it but I do not think we would be returning here in the future.
The room didn't match the photos in the listing. Listing shows a full kitchen with a full-size refrigerator and stove and a microwave mounted above the stove. It also shows a jacuzzi tub big enough for two. The tub in the room barely fit 1, there were filthy towels under the bathroom sink, a crumbled potato chip on the bedroom floor, the refrigerator was a mini fridge with a broken handle that froze everything in it. The stove was tiny and very old (but it worked). The TV didn't work upon arrival, but the maintenance guy was super nice. The bed was AWFUL. It bounced and was extremely soft. Every time my partner moved, I literally almost bounced off the bed. Room was in a nice location, but it's really far from everything. Which is the only thing that worked out because NOTHING was open anyway. They tell you NOWHERE on their website that stuff is only open on weekends. This includes food. Around the resort AND in town. The couch is a bed, so it's rock solid as a couch and very uncomfortable to sit on, but if your Back can't stand soft, saggy beds, lay on the couch. Also, unlike so some other rooms, this room came with nothing except 2 sets of towels and a roll of toilet paper. We needed to provide dish soap, paper towels etc. Also not something they mention on the website. It also comes with no extra blankets, so bring one in case you need to sleep on the couch.
We have been timeshare owners for over 30 years and stayed at a lot of different resorts. Willowbrooks is the worst that we have ever stayed. It is dated, unkept, smells, dirty, and the service is disappointing. Walking into the building you immediately get a smell of an old "nursing home" - kind of a mix of mold & urine. The carpet in the elevator has to be the most disgusting carpet I have seen in my life - worn, stained, dirty, ... (see pic).||When we entered our room, we notice the door lock did not have a plate (see picture) for the lock and deadbolt which presented concerns of security. The kitchen lacked basic supplies, had broken/cracked tiles, broken knives, old fry pan that made everything stick, and a coffee pot that wouldn't shut off unless unplugged. We requested replacements (twice) and we are currently 4 days into a 7 day stay and still no replacement or even a call to say they don't have them. The couch is broken so the cushion sink so low that your legs are painfully pressing against the front board frame (see pic). The plastic chairs on the units/room patio are cracked/broken (see pic). The laundry room is filthy with broken washers/ dryers (see pic). ||The resort charges a $28.50 amenity fee per day to cover the cost of using the indoor & outdoor pools, & movie theater, but it doesn't cover the water park or bowling. As you can see by the pictures of the outdoor pool, it is dirty and has broken glass in the parking lot (been there for 4 days). The pool furniture is old, worn & dirty. The building where the bathrooms are is locked and there are gross porta potties. ||Not many positives except the wildlife nearby is great to see - you'll see deer almost every day. The WiFi does work - I was able to quickly upload all the attached pictures.||Unfortunately, this place seems like it is beyond the ability to update and need to be gutted and rebuilt. We are trying to book another place nearby to leave early. ||Please don't buy into the "we are trying to update and remodel" responses posted on other reviews unless they show proof.
Rooms are filthy. This is the second time we have visited this location and the pools are closed (it's early August), the location is difficult to get to, and overall it's just a scummy place. The only open pool is in the waterpark, which is a separate charge. The last time we were here, and this time there are children who kick balls in the hallways, scream, and kick on doors. They are unsupervised because I suppose either the parents can't be bothered, or are otherwise.. "occupied." Disappointing location, don't waste your money.
