While walking around on Frenchmen st, stumbled upon this place and knew I had to try the fried chicken. Ended up getting a 4 piece chicken with French fries, a corn biscuit, and jambalaya rice. I usually like to eat my chicken with some sauce, so I saw they had some honey mustard and got a few small containers. Upon first try, this honey mustard sauce was awesome! It had the right amount of sweetness and was peppery, which I love in my honey mustard. It made for the perfect dipping sauce when eating the chicken, which was super good! The corn biscuit was as well, and I couldn't believe that everything in my box was slamming! I thoroughly enjoyed my food, and yes, there wasn't a crumb left! The jambalaya rice wasn't bad, but I've had better. The decor in this place is unique to the area, and it really gave off a New Orleans jazz vibe. On top of that, there was some great love music playing outside, so between the ambiance and decor, it set the tone for my meal! I'd highly recommend this place for a late night fried snack and a live time.
Friendly staff, varied food and drink options; dine in choices included bar tops and booths.
Juicy, flavored chicken tenders, honey biscuit and fries. Refreshing boozy slushies.
Enjoyed the impromptu Louisiana band outside the restaurant.
The restaurant was clean and staff were prompt in clearing tables and sanitizing when each party left.
The food was ok. If you had fried chicken before and you’re from the south, you have had better. But it’s still good. The service was horrible. The young lady was getting annoyed with my wife because she had a hard time deciding what to order, then we had to go back to the counter and get them to make her order. Feelings were hurt but she got her order. The atmosphere was very spot on in the restaurant. Nice art work and murals. But one worker can ruin the experience. Sorry Willie, good food, but your employees need customer service training.
As a LOCAL, it was my first and ONLY time eating here. I pass it all the time and never eat there because I know it's just overpriced chicken. I can get the same thing for half at my corner store. However, the other night, I was on Frenchmen headed somewhere and needed a quick, easy dinner. I sucked it up and paid 13 bucks for three tenders and fries. However, the problem was that the completely miserable woman at the counter got annoyed with me because I said that I couldn't get the pay screen to move past the tip screen after pressing "no tip". Sorry, but the expectation of tipping for every counter service order is insane now. So between being FORCED to choose a tip (which was garbage service), I had to just leave a forced percentage tip. You lost a potential local customer. I'm constantly on Frenchmen. Just to show you how bad of an impression was left, I think this is my first ever one star rating. Never again. Great job, guys.
Willie’s chicken shack was great fun! They did was terrific the chicken was hot fresh and perfectly spicy, red beans/rice and other sides were delicious.
Super funky interior and excellent staff!
The Jambalaya was the bomb with heaps of fresh tender chicken inside ???? wish they had a 3 meat version. The chef was also nice enough to recommend me some places to eat after I had the worst food of my life at a tourist trap earlier. Very friendly staff.
Stumbled upon Willie’s when first getting into the city. Honestly the food and daiquiris were delicious. Wish we would’ve had the time to go back. The chicken was tender and juicy. The biscuit was soft and flavorful. The side of jambalaya was yummy even my daughter liked it. The drinks and daiquiris were great.
This is a fun local spot to watch some sick bands play and eat some chicken! My friend loved this spot we ate here 4 late nights straight, she got chicken strips each time and loved it each time. I got the fried ctafish the first time and that was yummy a d cooked beautifully, the RED BEANS AND RICE IS ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!!!! and the 2 piece white meat chicken was really good the first time but the second time not so good. Maybe the foood is better when your drunk??? They have frozen drinks and beers and are have really nice staff . The street gets crazy packed on friday and saturday nights but the staff is fast. The menu said they had pizza but i didnt order any pizza. No bathrooms available here
