Great food!!!! That chicken is tender! Asked what a good cocktail was, the staff pointed me in the right direction! Son had the catfish. He said it was amazing. I was taking pictures, and the owner jokingly told me, "You taking a lot of pictures, who you work for? Chick-fil-A?" Told him, "I'm looking for the recipe. " ???? Even if I did work for them, your food is miles ahead. Don't see them catching up to your flavors! Great people work here. Overall, a great atmosphere will be coming back when we're back in town!
Anothet new orleans establishment i wasnt acknowledged. They continued thier conversation for a few minutes begore taking my order. I was lookjng fir a self order machine. Chicken is average at best. It wasn't fresh like I like. The biscuit taste like it had been sitting out. The fries weren't hot. I asked forvavsweet tea he gave me a gold peak for 5 dollars. They do not offer any ice. Daiquiri started at 13 dollars and up. The music is loud and thumping in this location. Bathroom is for customers only.
Came here for the first time with my family. We ordered the Krispy Wings, 3-Piece Cajun Tenders, and the Seafood Platter. The batter on the chicken and catfish were very flavorful. The shrimp, not so much, I needed to rely on the sauces to enjoy my shrimp. Overall, all the meats were a decent size, very crispy, and enjoyable. The biscuit was ok, very crumby and light on the honey. We also ordered the Mango daiquiri and the Hurricane Mix daiquiri. Both were very flavorful, but the Hurricane was probably the best one.
The staff are fast and friendly. Food does take a little while to come, but that’s because they don’t make it until you order it so it comes out crazy hot. The restaurant has a clean restroom that requires a code to get in. The surrounding areas can get a little crazy because you got drunk people coming in trying to use the restroom, then asking you if you know the code to get in lol.
Another night in NOLA which means it’s time to try a new food spot. Earlier today I was over on Canal and passed by Willie’s. The smell itself drew me in and I decided at that moment that I was coming back. LoL!!!!
Willie’s sits right on the strip so it’s super easy to find. The front was totally open and there were a few tables outside on the sidewalk. As the strip is super active, sitting outside would be dope if you wanted to people watch. LoL.
Walking up to the counter, each register had a cashier so the line was running smoothly. Taking a moment to review the menu, it was as one would anticipate; simple, straightforward, and one dimensional. The highlight of Willie’s definitely appears to be the Daiquiri’ as there are many options.
I decided on the 3pc Cajun Tender Combo which comes with Fries and a Honey Biscuit. I also added a side of Red Beans and Rice. I mean, it is NOLA so I had to do it.
I placed my order. Received my number. And took a seat to await my order. The restaurant was clean and vibrant. The yellow and red throughout the restaurant really set an upbeat tone that pairs well with the neon lights and vibrant colors of the Daiquiris.
Once my order was ready, it was delivered to the table and I was good to go.
Let’s talk the Food:
Biscuit - Simple. Buttery. Crunchy around the bottom edges. Soft in the middle. Nothing special to note. Reminds me of a biscuit from Church’s. I’ll say 7/10.
Tenders - Big. Juicy. Crunchy on the outside. Well seasoned. That’s it. That’s all I got. ????????????????????????. I’ll say 5/10.
Fries - Well Seasoned. Crunchy. I’ll say 7/10.
Red Beans and Rice - Now hear me out. I love a good RB&R and these were good. There were way more beans than there was rice, which is ideal for this kind of dish. They weren’t too spicy. They were flavored well and the beans were tender. You can definitely tell they were slow simmered. I’ll say 8/10.
Now… hear me out! The food wasn’t bad but for $25.00, chileeeeeeeeeeee. No ma’am, No sir. Lemme go to the chicken spot for half the price. Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying I won’t maybe go again if I want a lil piece of a tender. But at $13 for the Combo and $8 for the RB&R… imma need a coupon or something. ????????????????????????????????????????
Ok, Ok. In all seriousness, if you’re in the area, go for the experience.
*P. S. For my Up North people, Willie’s puts me in the mindset of our “New York Fried Chicken” spots that be on the strip in the hood.
I will recommend everybody go here for their chicken. I hope I can go back someday. Chicken was fantastic and sides were too. I would make this a destination spot personally. Very good chicken, very good prices for the area.
A must!!!! Absolutely loved their chicken. The fries are good too. They have frozen cocktail drinks that taste so good. It is a vibey and colorful spot. The staff is lovely, however the food takes time to come out.
Food was delicious. Sorry, we didn't get pics of the actual chicken. We were hungry and just got back from the tour. By the time we remembered there were only bones. It was hot, fresh with a tiny bit of spice flare. Kept it simple with chicken and fries, 4 piece mixed with fries and biscuit. Definitely be back. The atmosphere was ok. It had a cafeteria vibe to it.
Just spent $14 for a 3-piece Cajun chicken tender and $8 for a very small bowl of red beans and rice. Was given a micro container of mayonnaise based sauce for the tenders. Asked for another micro container and was told that would be an extra $1. Complete Rip Off. Guess that $0.05 worth of mayo cuts into profit margins a bit too much for the teenagers behind the counter. Will be the last time I spend my hard earned money at this establishment.
