Best WLM Reviews

Listen let me give an real honest review. When I see the name I think about Big Momma and her Brother. When I ordered “crispy fried chicken” I got “breaded tender” that led me to feel like it was a frozen pre cooked Sam’s club deal type the same with the turkey. Now the greens…..they were delicious. Now I won’t say the taste was bad it just wasn’t what I thought I was getting from “old school” just need a better description.
We were on a mission to find some good BBQ and decided to stop at Willie Jewels. I have never been here.
The inside was nice and clean. The outside had some tables and they have a take out window. You can eat inside or out.
I got the 2 meat combo - pulled pork and brisket w/ Mac n cheese and cornbread.
The brisket fell apart and was good (a little fatty). The pulled pork was dry. The Mac and cheese was bland. The cornbread was good. The portions were small for a 2 meat plate.
They have 3 different types of sauces. I wasn’t a fan of any of them. The sweet and sassy was decent.
My child got wings and green beans and she said it was ok. I tried the wings and unfortunately they forgot to season them before they grilled them. The wings were a nice size with meat on them. The green beans were good.
My mom got the 1/2 chicken with fried okra and cornbread. The chicken had a good smoked taste. The okra was delicious. They cut the chicken up into the sections they want to give. It should be 1/2 a chicken not cut up.
I would probably give it a 4/10. The food was a little pricey (my meal was $15) for what you get (2 meat 1 side, cornbread). No drinks come with the “combos.”
Service was phenomenal! The guy at the window was nice and helpful.
My taste buds are picky and for me this place didn’t hit the spot but I recommend to try it once. I didn’t think the quality and quantity of the food justified the prices they are charging.
Today, my daughter and I visited Willie Jewell's for lunch. Although we hadn't been in quite some time, I knew they would not disappoint. From the southern hospitality to the courtesy of the cooks, our overall experience was phenomenal. Our food arrived hot, fresh, and timely. I ordered the 3-meat combo with Mac & Cheese and Brunswick ste for the sides. My daughter ordered the half slab with fries. For dessert, we enjoyed one of our favorites, the bread pudding. The price was ABSOLUTELY fair for the portions we received. The ribs were so tender, the chicken was juicy, and the pulled pork was tender and flavorful. Although you do NOT need them, the BBQ sauces paired well with our food. We will be back soon!!!
I'm from Kansas City (no stranger to bbq), and was in town for work. Got recommended Willie Jewell's for a good local BBQ spot, and decided to try it out. I was really impressed by the food, especially the sausage had really good flavor to it. The wait staff were very helpful with making recommendations. Turkey and pulled pork were both moist, but the brisket was a little on the dry side, but not too bad. Cornbread, fries, and fried pickles were all very tasty, baked beans were so-so. Overall I thought it was a great local BBQ stop, and I've now eaten there twice within the last week, and recommended to a few others who have also tried it out and liked it within the last week. I will definitely be spreading the word, and coming back next time I'm in town!
Upon entry, we felt extremely welcomed. The staff was very helpful. Tiffany was a blessing, helping us with everything from answering our questions about the menu items to her recommendations on sauces. We dined in and the cleanliness was impeccable and the atmosphere was great. Not to mention how delicious the food was! By far the best BBQ around!
Willie Jewell’s is a hidden jewel in the greater Augusta area! Best BBQ joint I have had in the State of Georgia to date.
This location offers military discount.
From the parking lot to the inside of the restaurant the experience was welcoming and a great BBQ type vibe.
Customer service was World Class and the team offered samples of their products to help me make the right decision for my family’s meal.
The owner was extremely nice and welcoming! He even stated he would create a challenge for someone such as Joel Hansen to give it a go!
Enough of that and let’s talk BBQ! I sampled a rib and let me tell you, mmm mmm good, fall off the bone great fat and meat ratio. All fat on all meat was cooked to where it rendered and melted in your mouth while enjoying each bite.
The brisket had a great flavor, smoke ring, and pulled apart with a light snap as it should. Get this on a roll with some Hickory Red and you got something special.
The pulled pork was fantastic. Weather you want it in a roll with some coleslaw, on your plate smothered with BBQ sauce, or just dig your fingers in and eat as is; you can’t go wrong.
The sides were fantastic as well. Creamy Mac and Cheese, savory green beans cooked with some pulled pork, and creamy lightly sweet and salty Cole slaw.
Lastly paired with some buttered Texas toast and grape lemonade, let’s go!
Come on down and give this place a try!
This place rates in on of the top 3 BBQ joints I have eaten at, the other 2 being in Texas.
Great job and we look forward to going back and getting a rack of ribs!
(as takeout) shred BBQ was dry, no flavor. Supplied sauces basically ketchup & mustard based- not good sauces. Garlic "toast" was soggy loaf bread, not toasted. Onion rings very greasy. Expensive meal. My first visit - will not return.
Barnyard burger was solid, fries were as well. Today is Friday and the back of the cookie says Saturday. It may as well be a brick. Handing out week old cookies is wild. I received and finished my food before my friend (who ordered directly after me) even got his food. Wife found hair in her food. Everyone was super nice though, staff gets a 10/10. Definitely not coming back.
