Best WLM Reviews

I used to go here and liked Dr Isbell. Before him I had someone else who retired. I received a notice about 9 months ago that I was due a visit. I tried repeatedly to call, leaving messages yet no one called me back. My NP at Sentara told me they had staffing issues but those were resolved so I tried to call today. The lady on the phone was rude, interrupting me and even ignored me when I commented, "Ok, no one cares." when she cut me off. Now it turns out they no longer take my insurance and I will need to find another provider. Only giving two stars because they used to be good.
I have been going to the Williamsburg OB for about three years now and I have had nothing but a terrible experience. After my second child was born, I swear that I would never go back to this place. Delivering experience with Dr. Keller was actually amazing and I would 100% recommend her. What I wouldn’t recommend is a single staff in that building. My Experience with every single check in person has been annoying to say the least, Never seen a single person be greeted with a smile or just like feeling that the girls actually wanted to be there. The billing department person is also terrible always has an attitude. Every single time I go in, I go in with the mentality of Kill them With Kindness and hopefully I will have a good experience and it has never paid off. After the birth of my child in September 2022 I went in for my last check up/what was supposed to be my Pap smear. I flinched and the doctors stopped doing the appointment and when I asked her if everything was OK, she said she “didn’t know”, because I seemed uncomfortable and she wasn’t gonna force herself on me. So that was awkward because I don’t know a single person that ENJOYS a Pap smear. So moving forward to September 2023, I have my Pap smear scheduled, which they wouldn’t let me do a month early???? Even though I haven’t had a Pap smear in like five years. Called in advance to tell the doctor that I had my period and I was told that the doctor wouldn’t care that they are equipped to deal with things like that. So I went in, and reminded the doctor that I had my period, and she said “oh no, we will have to reschedule” ????. So with that reschedule, I also asked for an ultrasound because I was worried about some pain I was feeling in my ovaries. When it came to my first rescheduled date, I got my period a week early So I called and just preemptively rescheduled Two weeks later. Two weeks passes they called me and cancel the appointment because the doctor had a family emergency, So we rescheduled for two weeks later. Two weeks passed by and the doctor again cancels for another family emergency. So at this point, I’m ready in October. My appointment comes. I do the ultrasound. The doctor comes into the room tells me that everything is good with my ultrasound and just says “I’ll see you next time”. And just TOTALLY FORGETS to do my PAP SMEAR!!! I was just in such disbelief that I just said OK and then left. And I swore to myself that I would never go back there. But then I got pregnant with my 3rd, Riverside doesn’t have better reviews, It’s not like Williamsburg has a lot of choices. So back I went. For my first appointment, I got a midwife that was actually new the practice and she was great. Have nothing negative to say about her. I’m Interested in doing a natural birth after having two C-sections and she went over the pros and cons. She was really educational and she did tell me that none of the hospitals in Williamsburg are equipped to handle that so I would have to go to Richmond for it. So I went to Richmond, had my appointment and obviously feeling a little bit nervous, So I called the Williamsburg OB I left a message because nobody EVER answers the phone. And I asked somebody to call me back because I needed a second opinion about something. No one ever called me back. My appointment for 12 weeks was supposed to be yesterday. Because I was feeling frustrated that nobody called me prior to my appointment. I just canceled and told them that I would be moving forward somewhere else.
I regret coming here when I was going through some women’s issues. The doctor knew that I didn’t want to have kids and I wanted an ablation due to my issues. The continued asking about my choice and decision felt very off putting. They also failed to mention that they only perform one type of ablation. Do yourself a favor and avoid this practice and Dr. Isbell. Although I had to travel to Richmond to VCU, VCU’s staff and care was worth EVERY minute of the drive unlike this office.
Update 12/2024
I can’t speak highly enough of Colleen Howard. I was going through what I suspected was miscarriage. My ultrasound was at 11:20, but I had an appointment with another provider to discuss at 1. She stayed past her lunch hour to make sure to discuss the results of my ultrasound, and what my options were. She was kind and compassionate. I called her at 4:30 pm another day and she made sure to take my call. When I returned a week or so later she made sure to check on my mental health and how I was doing. This was a tough time but she was such a great support
I had my second pregnancy with Williamsburg OBGYN. My first was in a different state so I can compare to another office. If you are looking for a doctors office to hold your hand through your pregnancy, this may not be the office for you. Everyone is friendly and if you go in with questions they’ll take the time to address them. However, if you don’t, don’t get mad if your appointment is short. My personal favorites are Dr. Keller and Ms. White.
Unprofessional!!The receptionists talk trash about their clients as soon as they go back to see the doctor or get off the phone. The Last time I was ever there, after my so-called-check up,I went to pay up front. The nurse followed me up and screamed,You Didn’t Charge her First??!!!
I don’t pay for an oil change Beforehand, and was appalled that I had to pay for the lack of service there.
DO NOT GO HERE. This is the most unprofessional office I have ever experienced in my life. The entire staff from the receptionists to the doctors and office manager have ZERO people skills and no care whatsoever. This office made my last pregnancy hell for the entire pregnancy. (I only went here because I wanted to deliver at Sentara Hospital). The doctors here, especially Dr. Keller, did not take my concerns seriously. One instance I was having terrible pains and they kept telling me to take Tylenol and I was fine. I was 20 weeks pregnant and it ended up being a severe bladder infection (which left untreated, would have caused me to loose my baby). I had to deal with the rude receptionist who checks you out at every appointment where she would cut me off mid sentence and sigh when I asked about different dates than the first one she gave me. Dr. Keller ended up delivering my baby and she was cold, rude and had no bedside manner. She was a nightmare and offered nothing to help me after pushing for over two hours after requesting.
DO NOT EVEN WASTE YOUR TIME. This office will leave you feeling like your concerns are stupid and only offer you tylenol. Go somewhere else that will care about you and your baby...
I gave birth to my first child in February and had a wonderful experience with Williamsburg OBGYN. My husband and I looked forward to our prenatal appointments knowing we would get our questions answered in a supportive and professional environment. We also found the practice to be unusually punctual for a doctor’s office, and I did not have issues reaching them by phone regarding scheduling or other issues. They have continued to be helpful for me postpartum, and I really appreciate the nurse line in particular during this period. We will be forever grateful to Dr. Isbell for safely delivering our baby, but we were happy with all the practitioners there. Definitely recommend for pregnancy care!
This review is a long time coming. I have delivered 2 babies since 2021 with Williamsburg OBGYN. Over the last 3 years the professionalism of the front desk staff has continued to go down. I have always complained about how rude and impersonal they are but this last year has really done it for me. This is an obgyn for crying out loud!!! Women come here for so many reasons but all are personal and vulnerable. Is it too much to ask for your first point of contact to the practice to be pleasant?! They don’t even acknowledge you when you’re standing there wondering if you should approach them or not to check in. And when they do they don’t look up from their computer to even see who they are speaking to. I was fortunate to have very healthy pregnancies and would get so excited for each apt to see growth and obviously ultrasounds but to walk in and be treated like they can’t be bothered to even look at you truly puts a damper on the experience.
Lastly, I have had so many issues getting through to literally anyone in the phone. You press zero to reach someone in scheduling and it goes directly to a generic voicemail. So, I left a message to my provider about this issue and received a response that couldn’t have been more lack luster and did not directly address any of my concerns. I was told that due to short staff to leave a voicemail and someone will get back to me. So my OBGYN is now unavailable to take phone calls because they are short staff due to illnesses so you have to leave a voicemail and hope someone returns your call ?! This is the office manager who responded. Absolutely not. I will find an OBGYN who answers their phones and takes responsibility for their staff. Just don’t go here. If you’re expecting and want to deliver in Williamsburg ..I get it.. but just don’t.
