Best WLM Reviews
Had a wonderful weekend stay at the Williamsburg Lodge. The location, just steps away from the historic area was great. The resort is large, so some locations require more walking than others. Parking in the underground garage was easy and felt safe. The staff was terrific, always friendly and very attentive (upon arrival, the electronic panel on the safe had been ripped off; 2 ladies from reception stopped by to see if they could help, right as maintenance also came). There were a few little maintenance/cleanliness issues, but it was a very nice stay. I look forward to returning in the future.
So many good and not so good things to share. First the not so good. Please be aware of where your room will be. I am in the South Guesthouse. It resembles a college dorm. Very long hallway with hideous carpet and cleaning trolleys parked here and there. They are not being used but basically stored in the hallway. You kind of have to squeeze by them. My room is small and dark. Three lamps with the lowest wattage bulbs they could possibly find. Window treatments are outdated and very unattractive. There is no specific area to recharge devices. You just have to plug them in all over the room. Furniture is mismatched and quite shabby. The bathroom is so tiny with not even space for a curling iron. No counter space at all! Even when the shower is turned to the very hottest the water is not hot enough. ||A few positive things. The lobby of the actual hotel is lovely and decorated nicely. It smells great. The breakfast restaurant was good as was Sweet Tea and Barley. Gift shop was nice but needs to be much bigger for the amount of inventory they carry. ||Another big bad thing. The little express area for specialty coffee drinks and light snacks is a big mess. One person working the morning shift. If you filled your coffee cup with coffee it would be icy cold by the time you were checked out. One person is the barista, the breakfast sandwich maker, the person who restocks, etc. So, if a person in line ordered 4 lattes, or cappuccinos, 4 breakfast sandwiches, some pastry, etc. That is all done by one person. So, if you only want a bottle of water to go, forget it. So poorly managed.||It is really sad this hotel will not be a positive memory.
When you enter, a gorgeous flower arrangement greets you. Tina was great, very helpful and knowledgeable! My husband was injured and had to go to multiple areas just to find ice- one ice machine was broken and the other had NO ice. Annoying that this was not filled with ice. Also an inconvenience: all of the sandwiches/burrito options at their only little cafe was not available at 8am on a Sunday so we had to have a sit down breakfast next door. The hotel bed was too hard for me and not comfortable for me. The couple and kids next door were arguing and talking so loudly very early in the morning...7am or earlier on a Saturday...we could hear them very clearly as if they were in our own room. The room was a decent size, pretty big. The indoor pool we had to ourselves and was heated and big. The free shuttle we only ended up using once. I asked for more towels which they delivered immediately. They did not give us water but other guests were given water. This is more like a 3/5 star review.
The Williamsburg Lodge is located perfectly and even right across the street from the spa! My room was a very nice size, but didn't have many amenities. The doors to get into the building where my room was located closed slowly and not consistently, so be aware of making sure they properly close. The staff I interacted with were all kind!
The mixed reviews made me leery about this property. (I’m Marriott Titanium, have stayed in hundreds of their hotels, and you might describe me as picky.) Here we were completely satisfied with our stay over a busy Thanksgiving Eve. The buildings are well maintained—our room was comfy and spotless. Breakfast buffet was very good, as was the bar food we had for dinner. And Colonial Williamsburg is right there. We didn’t plan on using the pool and, if other reviewers are correct that the pool is not on property (we didn’t see one and I wondered why the website photos didn’t really feature a pool) I’d encourage the managers to make that crystal clear on their website. No need to be misleading about that. I will say the $25 parking fee seems like a money grab.
My family and I just spent 4 nights at the Williamsburg Lodge. My wife and I had stayed here years ago and loved it then which is why we specifically chose to stay here. The lodge has a very classic historic look, there's none of that ultra-modern look that you'd see in a lot of other hotels. That's part of the Lodges charm, and after all it is right up from the street from Colonial Williamsburg so the colonial look fits in well. We opted to upgrade to a balcony room which was a great decision, the balcony rooms are towards the end of the hotel which made for a very quiet, peaceful room. We had breakfast at Traditions twice and our server was amazing, she was very attentive and so sweet to our kids. There are 2 outdoor pools and 1 indoor pool with a hot tub, one of my favorite things was that one of the outdoor pools was a serenity pool which is meant to be quieter...it was very relaxing at the end of the day. I also used the gym for early morning workouts before we started our days, it was kept clean and the equipment was pretty new and well maintained. Overall I'd say one of my favorite things about the Williamsburg Lodge is the proximity to Colonial Williamsburg, I would walk out of the hotel, down the sidewalk for a minute, cross the street and be in the historic area...no need to even move the car out of the hotel parking area. That close distance made it ideal for evening walks through the historic area after it cooled down a little outside. My family and I absolutely love the Williamsburg Lodge and have every intention of staying there again in the future. Highly recommended!
Great staff, Thanksgiving Buffet was excellent. Hidden fees - Marriot offers early check in and check out ($75,$30) - but only after getting bill did I find out about an additional admin fee for each of the above. Legal?|Room was generally clean, but heating system did not work. Nearby rooms had similar issue.
Another phenomenal stay at the Williamsburg Lodge. When you find a hotel, that’s great in every way, then add to that the most kindest, knowledgeable, caring people who work there ,to the point that they will go completely out of their way to ensure you have a great memorable stay,
Why would you go anywhere else???
I love this hotel. I love the people there. I love the location. I truly cannot think of one negative thing.
From Joe, Frederick, and the other gentlemen who are Bellman, who love their job and just wanna make people happy, to Jennifer and two other ladies whose names I recalled up until I went to write this. They insured our rooms were in tiptop shape every day. Even when I didn’t want the room cleaned they made sure we had everything from towels trash bags to soap to anything we needed!
Ms Helen , Who is so kind and caring always greets everyone with a smile at the front desk, she always seems to find a way to make things better, David, definite animal lover extremely helpful. Everyone at the reception desk, including Liz and Hannah unfortunately I cannot remember everyone’s name one of the downsides of getting older. They were all great.
Then there’s Ms Tina At the concierge desk. She is there to make sure you stay is fabulous that you’re aware of everything that’s going on daily! To me that is extremely important. Every time I stay there, she has alerted us to different restaurants, whether we need reservations or not, and the best time to go. What’s great is She takes the time to finds out what your interests anre and then recommends things!
Since we have stayed there now, several times, I feel like I’m going back to see family!!
BECAUSE THAT’S HOW THEY MAKE YOU FEEL!!
