Veterans and their spouses deserve better. My elderly mother recently came down with a nasty chest infection and my father took her to the emergency room. Any sensible person would, right? Well, what she experienced was right up there with third-world mediocrity.
After waiting for a room to be seen, my mother was examined by a nurse or medic or trainee, it's hard to tell considering his behavior and lack of professionalism. He promptly zeroed in on a brace she wears because of a nasty break she incurred years ago. She wears it because of the metal rod they inserted and the bone is weak. Regardless, THIS had nothing with the reason she needed medical help. He would not leave it alone and practically interrogated my mother on the reason for wearing the supportive brace, asking question after question about why she needed it instead of focusing on the reason she was hacking her lungs out.
If that wasn't enough, they incorrectly inserted an IV and it LEAKED all over the floor and her clothing. Then, a vial of blood was dropped on the way to the lab. Totally professional. After all of this from supposedly highly-trained medical staff, they finally sent her home with what she needed.
I was horrified after she told me what happened. No one should be subject to such unprofessional and clumsy behavior at a military facility, much less a hospital. No wonder my mother didn't want to go and would have rather continued to be miserable at home.
Place was great. My wife got sick Friday night and we went to the ER there on Saturday. They tested, had her seen and issued prescriptions all under 3 hours. Which is pretty good for an ER in my opinion. The place wasn't super packed. I think there were around 4 or 5 people ahead of us when we got there. Staff was very nice.
Waited 2 and a half hours in an empty ER for nothing. Staff and doctors were friendly and polite except for one. Ivette Pena was very rude and unprofessional. I asked twice for an ETA for one of the techs that was on call so I would know how long the visit would be. Ivette told me the first time it would take 30 minutes and to be patient. After the 30 minute I check in again on an ETA and she told me she doesn’t know, that I should be patient and it’s the holidays. I asked for a referral to come back, she denied and said I’m free to come back any time. Walked back to talk to my wife and over heard her telling the other staff to just cancel the tech without my permission. Very disappointed with how unprofessional she acted.
Honestly I had a great experience here. I had pinching nerve pain and leg numbness and they took very good care of me and took action as needed for my issue. It is a long wait..I was there for a total of 8 hours but I needed an MRI and they only had two people running it with multiple patients that day. So I totally can understand the wait and exhaustion of the workers there when there is a high demand on days where they aren't full staffed. Capt Bushman was a fanominal doctor and took every precaution he knew for my symptoms and got the ball rolling for my next referral. Brianna was a fanominal nurse. She came in and checked on me in timely manners and made sure I was as comfortable as I could be.
Only suggestion: if you have a patient there for long hours maybe have a protocol on making sure they have access to water, and a phone charger ????
I had a very frustrating experience at the ER. We waited for over four hours without any updates or clear communication from the staff. It was disheartening to see many patients, including those in obvious pain, decide to leave rather than continue waiting. The current staffing levels are inadequate, and it’s clear that improvements are needed to better care for patients. I hope the hospital takes this feedback seriously and makes necessary changes to improve the situation.
Traveling disabled Vet, I had a flare up of incapacitating back pain. They sogn me in within 10 minutes of my arrival. I had vitals taken and was seen within 20 min, waited an additional 15 to see a provider. I was in and out in just over an hour. The staff was friendly, eager to assist, and knowledgeable. I am grateful for their attention to detail and thorough care.
I've been waiting in urgent care for over three hours with no updates or pain relief. I've witnessed elderly patients waiting for six hours as well. This is unacceptable, and it's not the first time I've experienced this. The facility needs more staff to address these issues.
This was my daughter’s face walking into the ER last night.
The nurse checked us in and then we took a seat in the back corner where we proceeded to have a conversation on if we needed to take her elsewhere. She was bleeding , which is a biohazard.. and she had a head injury that no one was moving with any urgency to take care of ..
While debating a woman came over and told me she’d been there for five hours .. My husband went over to ask security how long the wait would be and he also said five hours for a HEAD INJURY that was BLEEDING. Absolutely unacceptable.
We left and went to The Hospitals of Providence Transmountain Campus . My second time being in their ED and nothing but a m a z i n g both times . They had my daughter in and out within an hour and a half .
I don’t know if yall are over worked and understaffed or what in this ED but both times i’ve been in there it was a multiple hours wait .
Please take me else where if i decide to try dying
