Enjoyed some wings and took in the atmosphere in a place I haven't been in since I was a kid. Cameo Pizza (Sweet Heat pictured) was recommended by a buddy and did not disappoint! I ordered it to go and it was piping hot and delicious when I got home. Wish I had known that was in Varsity Club earlier!
This is a very nice Bar & Grille. The bar and outside seating area is mostly separated from a large bright nice family eating area. We often see families with children dining there. There is really no good alternative for a nice atmosphere and good food in the area. The servers are generally very friendly and efficient. They have a great selection of sandwiches and even have pizza. The pizza is very good, a must try! My favorite is Lake Erie perch basket, it's also a very good value. The fish actually appears to be and taste like Lake Erie perch! Overall, the Varsity Club is a very good place to try!
We ate on a Thursday, which is Burger special. So we both had burgers. I had the Firecracker Burger, and my wife had the All American. They were both very good! Great pub fries and even better service! Would definitely recommend it to friends.
Only one server, so a bit of a wait to get our order in. The tables were dirty and the mens bathroom was atrocious. The appetizer was decent, the main course very tasty (highly recommend the fries). We didn't get napkins or cutlery until halfway through our appetizer (pulled pork nachoes). And never got a refill on our drinks.
We like the place. But recently the service has went downhill On one visit we waited 20 minutes for drinks. I had to eventually go to the bar and place my order. Only 5 tables in the place were occupied. The girls were too busy chatting with each other rather waiting on customers. The next visit we went and service was still very poor. The girls this time they were at the bar eating lunch. Only 3 tables were occupied at this time. When we finally got to order the waitress acted put out by having to bring us more drinks. Brought us our bill and didn’t ask if we needed anything else we had to have another little girl bring us drinks and needed a new bill to pay. It’s our local restaurant/bar that we do frequent a lot but recently we’ve been very put off by service.
Stop at 6.15 pm 9 29 24,3 people at bar and 2 people at a booth. Booth we sat at was all sticky,the waitress wiped it off while we sat there. Ordered 2 waters and she gave us 2 menu and walked off. One other couple walked in and sat at a table. Then about 8 people walk in and sat down at a table. Waitress walked over and took all 8 of their drinks orders,then went to the bar and made every one of there drinks one at a time. The drink making took at least 15 to 20 minutes. Then our waitress walks over and takes all the 8 peoples order for food while my wife and I wait with the other couple, that walked in after us. There were two other people working in there coming in and out of the back but didn't seem to care about customers waiting. And in between on the waitress was making the drinks she cashed out a lady picking up a pizza. At 6.48 pm my wife and I walked out along with the older couple that came in after us. We won't bother giving this place another try. Should've read their reviews first.
It's a great roadhouse vibe out off the hi way. Great bar food and cold beers, while being surrounded by multiple tv's, make catching a game here a real good time.
Last time we ordered we ordered on their burger night and all the burgers were well done and not made right with the toppings. So we ordered again today to give them the chance to correct their mistake. Well, it was totally disappointing. Food was burnt black, burger was way over cooked, philly had meat on half only, rueben had meat on half only. And everything tasted like it was a week old. When it was brought to their attention, the owner said she checked the food herself before it went out of the building. If thats the case, lady you have no reason to be in food service. This food should have never been put into a box and packaged up for anyone. It should have went atraight into the trash!! The owner also told us if we didnt like it take our business elsewhere, not a problem. We didnt just pay 60 bucks for food to not be able to eat it. The worst service and food we have ever had, period!!! Dont worry, we wont be back. I hope no one else gets treated this way. Smh!!
