Friendly staff. So pleasant and professional. Took the shuttle here from Allentown Outpt clinic with my mother who is the veteran. She was given great care from the ophthalmology department.
My experience with Audiology and Orthopedics has been fantastic. Professional, friendly and caring are only three of the positive accolades they deserve. My recent colonoscopy was performed on-time with no hassle and the whole procedure could not have gone better. IMHO, this place is outstanding.
I had an audiology appt at Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center. They are the nicest people to work with in all regards. The audiologist spent 2 hrs explaining my new hearing aids. She answered all my questions. I can not say enough how pleasant and helpful both the receptionist and the audiologist were with my appt.
Speaking strictly on my experience with the mental health dept. in Wilkes Barre. I had an apt at the Allentown site, arriving in an obvious mental crisis. No one was on site to speak with me so I communicated via 2 phone calls with the Wilkes Barre mental health couselors. Long story short they'll send me an antidepressant and call me in a few weeks to check on me. If you could of heard me, explaining in great detail, the incredible PTSD flare up I'm suffering thru, after it being under control for 22 yrs, and this antidepressant/few week follow call response was my lifeline.....The lack of any real meaningful help/ referrals left me hopeless. This hopelessness found me on the phone with the veterans crisis hotline that night because of the obvious lack of seriousness taken by the mental health provider I spoke with. Those people saved me that night. It's a shame that real veterans, in real crisis situations, even after asking for help, will fall thru the cracks still because of inadequate and ineffective help provided by an organization who prides itself on really taking care of their vets. Please pray for me thru this because I'm obviously not going to get help thru the VA. I am on my own. I called and canceled any further apps after that call because if I have to do it on my own anyways I don't need to keep apps with an agency who seemingly all say they care, but still me hung out to dry. I hope others get the real help they neec,
I have been with the VA since 2012 and in several different states. I have to say I have the best Drs and Nurses since 2014. The pharmacy staff are very helpful if you need a script in a hurry. I don't think I'll ever leave here
This place is a joke, my primary care is on vacation and I waited for the covering Doctor who refused to see me after two hours, I asked for refills on medications I already had on my chart and a nurse literally blocked me from getting them and dont even bother with the myhealthevet portal, all I got was attitude and rudeness from a nurse. After 24 hours of no response I drove an hour and a half just to be denied to see a doctor two e by nursing staff, NURSES DO NOT HAVE THE AUTHORITY TO DENY CARE. Twice some LPN with less education than someone with and undergrad degree denied my doctors visit, three jours of driving and money for gas just to have some twit half my age deny me care for an injury on my chart, for fraying of my spinal cord, reported to the Ig and I am pursuing litigation, this place os a JOKE
addendum, having LPN's make medical decisions via myhealthevet is illegal and someone is going to pass from this world bc of this chicanery
Was at the VA hospital today for the first time. Check in was quick, little wait time. In exam room was asked questions about my health by the nurse and then seen by Dr. Pancholy who was polite, professional and easy to talk to. Had no problems with any staff members I dealt with. All were friendly and helpful.
VAMC Wilkes Barre is an outstanding facility. I have worked as a travel RN for 20 years and choose to come here as there is no better. Excellent customer service, qualified staff and if a referral is needed elsewhere for a more complicated condition, it will happen quickly. Well done to all staff at Wilkes Barre.
