We have returned from overseas now for about 2 years. My wife has tried to establish a PCM. After being assigned a PCM then, changing without notice and reassigning her another physician “on the team” then seeing that Dr. she was given prescriptions to pickup at base pharmacy. But there were computer problems and was told to come back . A week later she returns to pharmacy to pick up her medication and they have no records showing she has any medications. She goes to see the Dr. The desk clerk says they have no record of her having a previous appointment with that Dr and no notes reflecting any notes showing she had any prescriptions. We go see the Patient Advocate. A very young man later found out was a LT. He takes her Military ID and leads us to his office. Basically relayed everything I’ve already noted here. He looked up her information on his system tells us he needs to speak with the physician about the confusion, My wife says in our car she has a folder with all the Patient Checkout information the Dr had given her and will go retrieve it while he contacted the Dr. As she returned to the desk, the clerk told her the Patient Advocate located her information and she can now pickup her medications. When she gets to the pharmacy she realizes she doesn’t have her ID Card she left with the Advocate and he never returned it to her. We again return to the desk and are told the Advocate is out to lunch and won’t return for an hour. I informed them we are not waiting an hour and demand the ID Card now. They contact the Advocate and he says he left the ID Card with the desk clerk. The desk clerk says she gave it to my wife when she instructed her to pickup her meds at the pharmacy. Using my ID card I picked up her meds at the pharmacy. The Advocate returns from lunch and tells us the clerk has left for lunch and they can’t seem to locate the ID card. I had a heavy discussion with the Advocate and he’s making arrangements for my wife to get a new ID Card. Unbelievable! This place is incompetent!! Not even Patient Advocates can get it right!!
My son came into the ER. 3 HOURS in the doc said I don't know what it could be and random tests on the dart board began. Had 102.7 temp gave him mortin, 30 minutes later 103 temp was told by doctor he woild get tylenol through IV. 1 hour 30 minutes later no Tylenol no retest of temperature. I called for tech and finally was told waiting on doctor. Currently over 7 hours and from the walk of the hall, one other patient and still nothing. Asked several times whats going on and all I get it is waiting on doctor. Inexcusable care with minimal patients. Have to see what an emergency or them busy would look like.
Excellent medical services. Great experiences from 59th Medical Wing and l staff. Superb professionalism, keep up the good work, Would like to say thank you to All Nurses, Doctors, and all Staff . Greatly appreciate all staff taking good care and great heart. The doctors here are very dedicated and well trained. It’s glad to be treated here. The hospital has a wide spectrum which is on par with the other overseas As you know every hospital is super crowded. However, there is an orderly manner within the hordes of people signages, and staff is there to help. You need to ask. My advice is don't go unless you really need to. Give the staff and frontline a break. Great job, I can't thank all staff enough for love and care I am very impressed with the level of professionalism, care, and competency of the Doctors and Nurses at Wilford Hall and 59th Medical Wing special thank you take care of all Military and Veterans and family.!!!
This is for the LAB. You used to be able to call, make a lab appointment, get your labs and out. Now there is a website. I called to get the site as I needed to cancel my lab appointment. The young “lady “ answering couldn’t be bothered to say her name. Tried to give me the website so fast Flash couldn’t have written it down. Asked her to please slow down. Got called a “bi*ch” and hung up on. wow. Nice service. I’m already going out to BAMC to pick up my scripts (SOO much faster!!) I may as well get my labs there too. WH has DEFINITELY gone so far downhill, their customer service is in an ABYSS!!!
General:
Put up a directory at every entrance.
When the info desk is unmanned, give directions to the other info desks.
Put up a temporary directory OUTSIDE so patients can know which door to go into (since construction blocks the 'front entrance')
Lab work draw: Post WRITTEN instructions for patients who have already scheduled an appointment online.
Allow patients to see the lab work instructions in MHS Genesis. I was told to fast on the phone, but the tech did NOT ask if I was fasting. I will find out either way when I get my test results.
Pcsd here recently with my family. Had to switch back to prime to be seen in a good time frame because all off base doctors had long waits and I needed refills for my medicine I have been on for years. A very basic anxiety medicine.
Saw the doctor got my prescription it wasn't a problem. Saw her again another visit to get on another important medicine. She told me to schedule an appt 20 to 30 days after that 2nd appt we had so we can do a vitals check. I did exactly that but one of the medicines I was prescribed runs out before the visit and the second one basically is out the day of the doctors visit which is cutting it close but not the end of the world.. I try to get a refill on my basic medicine and I swear it's like pulling teeth with this clinic to get someone to help me without arguing with me. They won't give me a refill but suggest I got get an emergency short term supply until my appt.. i followed the doctors instructions about scheduling within a certain time frame. If she wanted to see me before that she should have said something. I was only told she wanted to see me for 1 of the medicines not both for refills. But now I have to potentially be out on a medicine I can't miss and have to take everyday because of miscommunication. When I tried to explain to the nurse on the phone I kept getting cut off and called ma'am very sternly and she kept repeating the same doctors notes which I was trying to explain to her that I was told something different at the last visit. It's a shame that this medical center is so hard to get in touch with let alone the communication is awful. I'm a stay at home mom with a special needs toddler and a baby and I have very limited time and I really really don't need to be argued with about a simple refill. On top of all of this with my medicine the pediatrician office never submitted the proper referrals for my son to get his eyes looked at and glasses also another very important referral was never submitted as well. He needs these services like yesterday so I don't understand why do I have to jump through fire for simple things from medical on lackland afb??? I am very upset. Finding the right phone number and someone actually answering the phone is a very rare thing apparently for this place. Ice complaints will be filed. I'm so sick of on base medicine. Ice complaints will be made and if I have to go higher up I will.
After coming to Wilford Hall for twenty five years for bloodwork taking ten minutes door to door, it now takes three to four hours. I don't know who runs this place but it is a total clusterF. Not to mention they STILL haven't removed the old hospital from in front of the new one and you have to walk a mile just to get inside. It's fun when it 100 degrees outside. What a total and complete joke. They ought to throw the person in charge in the clink.
My experience with the new Wilford Hall to date has been excellent. I have had multiple appointments here for dermatology, orthopedics, older man colonoscopy, etc. No issues at all. The building itself is very nice and laid out logically, with solid signage. Overall, they did a good job planning out the replacement of the old facility.
