Best WLM Reviews

Walked around downtown Highlands on our first quick stopover and decided to dine at Wild Thyme Gourmet as menu appeals to us. We were promptly seated in a cozy booth without a reservation (maybe it’s Mon!). Food was awesome! Beet salad, waterfall beef and chicken breast were delicious and beautifully presented. Chicken stuffed with olives is such a good idea and beef was so tender. Many great options for desserts and not forgetting a huge wine list. We picked Chocolate pâté and lemon mousse cake. Server was attentive and friendly. Highly recommended place to check out!
We had dinner here during a quick stop in Highland. We had the fried green tomatoes and the scallop / shrimp entree. Both tasty. Angela was super helpful behind the bar.
We've been coming here for Years...including the older location by Hutchinson park...
The food is consistently good, the staff is knowledgeable and mostly great. When it gets crazy, and it Does!
Everyone gets a little stressed. As a customer, know that they are doing all they can, be patient, be kind and enjoy the atmosphere, inside and out.
Chill...its a great place. And, in a recent visit everything was wonderful, the food was Great (beet salad plus..whatever fish they serve!)
and BTW Angela was superb ????????????
Excellent food, good service, pleasant atmosphere, not tourist friendly. In October 2021, not knowing much about the Wild Thyme, we went for dinner on a Monday when most restaurants in the area were closed. When my girlfriend called to ask a few questions about the restaurant's location and parking, the lady on the phone was a little short with her and did not answer her question. Therefore, I would not consider this restaurant tourist friendly. However, we found the restaurant and were not disappointed in the experience. The Maple Brie appetizer was particularly good, as was my girlfriend's Shrimp and Scallop entree. The goat cheese, cranberry and walnut salad was also particularly good. The pan seared WNC Mountain Trout was the best trout dish I have had. I loved it! The chef did an excellent low-carb version by subbing spinach and asparagus for the polenta. A friend had the Portobello Mushroom Napoleon which she thought was well prepared, but too soupy for her taste. The portions were appropriate. Our server, Dolledon, was knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. I thought the prices were fair. Most menu entree items were between $25 and $35 with a few more expensive. They offered indoor and outdoor seating. I would return.
We returned in July 2022. The food was as good as we remember from last October. We found the hostess and the staff to be very friendly, efficient, and accommodating. I had Bacon Wrapped Quail, and my girlfriend had the Veal Chop entree (The special that day), We enjoyed our entrees. My girlfriend had coconut cake for dessert, which she described as the best she has had.
Back again in May 2024 as the Wild Tyme has become a must when we visit the Highlands/Cashiers area. I can now state that the food is consistently great. I had the heart of palms salad and my girlfriend had the beet salad. For our entree My girlfriend had the shrimp and sea scallops and I had the crab cakes. The scallops were large and sweet. The crab cakes had no filler, and all crab. They were the best I have had outside of Maryland. So far in three visits over three years we have not had anything that was not excellent.
Our first night in Highlands had us wandering around aimlessly looking for places to eat that had something for all of our cravings. My daughter wanted pasta, I wanted fish, my husband, steak. Wild Thyme popped up ét voila all our needs were met. Delicious cocktails and excellent service married with freshly made, hot cuisine. All three of us polished our plates. Which almost never happens. There is always a to-go box in our future. Our server was a lovely lady who was working doubles because they are short staffed for the holidays but she still managed to smile and make sure we were enjoying ourselves. She didn't miss a beat and I salute all staff front- and back-of-house, who created magic for all lucky enough to experience them. From what we're told they serve soups and salads for lunch so perhaps we'll be back before we head out. They were truly masterful at their craft.
This was a great restaurant. Had some of the best grouper here, if not the best. My blueberry mojito was fine, the cocktail menu didn't knock my socks off but definitely a solid restaurant. Staff is excellent. Highly recommend.
Over-priced but good food. It was a 30 min wait to get seated. We had a soup, spring rolls and the Risotto shrimp fritters. 16$ for three fritters that didn’t taste of any shrimp is ridiculous! The soup was really good though. Having mentioned on the menu that they charge 4$ for sharing food feels like nickel and dime-ing and a super cheap thing to do.
We have been going here for years. We have given parties here. Always satisfied. Today I had a poorly prepared salad. Being hungry, I ate the easier portions and peeled/shredded some of the spinach. I met with the owner who reported 'I ate the whole dish and she would not remove a $12 item from a larger bill'. I have routinely had excellent service at this restaurant. The owner was disagreeable in a manner inconsistent with Highlands, NC.Her was unacceptable, dishonest and far beneath the restaurant's usual standards.
