My mom and I went yesterday. I Highly recommend an old fashioned with their local whiskey, a scotch egg, sausage roll and the Brie. We ordered to go a shepherds pie that rivaled my step dads moms. About to dig into the fish and chips. It was such great food! Alex was an amazing bartender and ended up getting a little busy but made sure we didn’t feel like it. This restaurant is for sure a hidden gem!
Amazing English pub! We’ve been here a few times and will be going back. Food is always great, service amazing, beer and drinks fantastic. Love this place so much. They even turned one of the tvs to the game we wanted even though it wasn’t the ‘big game’. Keep doing the great things and providing that amazing service. Love it!
I've been coming here for more than 10 years. I fell in love with scotch eggs because of this place, and still treat myself with a beer and egg on random occasions. This past outing influenced this post, something changed and not for the better and it's too far out from the Father's retirement. There is way too much breading and a tablespoon of sausage. Will try again soon, but Wild Rover put themselves on the potential blacklist for me.
First time here, big brewery person. Awesome English style brewery. The Shepards pie was delicious as well as the side salad. Beer was also spot on, will definitely be back with the wifey soon.
Yesterday was my first visit. Went with friends that recommended the place. I ordered the fish and chips entrée and it was - no exaggeration - the worst I've even had. The fish was much smaller than I expected for the price and it looked like it had been cooked, taken out of the fryer, then dunked in some oil and put on top of the fries. Like, there was literally oil all over it and running out of the bottom of it onto the fries. I peeled all the saturated batter off it with my fork and ate about half of the fish, which was then as plain-tasting as can be. Only ate about half of the fries, too, as those that were under the fish were oily to the point of being inedible. Pretty sure they were also frozen/from a bag, as there were lots of little pieces/slivers mixed in.
Maybe a fluke, but it was downright gross - and $19 plus tax and tip ($24.23). If I hadn't been there with three other people that all got their food at the same time - I definitely would have sent it back or just ordered something else.
Beer and service were good enough for me to leave two stars, rather than one, though.
P.S. Thinking about it, even if it had been good, it's still rather pricey for one relatively small piece of fish and some fries from a bag. Even if it had been good, I wouldn't order it again. My $0.02...

I eat a good bit of fish, like three times in the last three weeks, and sometimes more than that. I took pictures of the last three times. Here’s more fries, which are fresh/house-made and more fish for $12 at Square Grouper. More fries, which are fresh/house-made, and more fish for $15 at Front Porch (they just increased from $14 to $15). Fries, three hushpuppies, and way more fish for $10.99 at Blue Sea. And, all of this was far better than yours. I stand by my words that yours is the most expensive I’ve ever gotten, the fries were from a bag, and the one relatively-small piece of fish for the price was terrible. I regret that I didn’t take a picture of yours…
Nice, family-owned restaurant with attached brewery and a strong British undercurrent. The beers were good but not as aggressive as most American craft beers. The service was pleasant and the chips were good. I was not convinced by my vegetarian choice and the waitress was very apologetic and offered several ways to accommodate my palate but I had filled up on chips and brussel sprouts and she took the vegetarian meal of the check.
Firstly, no Sunday roast despite online stating that there is….. I can overlook that. Offered the best and closest meal to a Sunday roast a large Yorkshire with beef, carrots, gravy, horseradish sauce and chips. I had to ask for my gravy. It was a soggy Yorkshire…..of sorts……folded as a sandwich. I’m English and I know a good roast and a good creative variation on a roast….. this ain’t it! To add insult to injury, watery lager! Not even passable as good pub grub. Sadly, definitely NOT recommended .
We were in town for our sons birthday and we had made a reservation and it was our first time here. When we walked in we weren’t sure where to go. We walked thru the Sports bar and spoke with someone who showed us to our table in the Snug bar. Sat in a booth and was greeted by Morgan our waitress. We weren’t sure what to drink and she gave us great recommendations that we enjoyed. It was a busy night right before they were having a Fleetwood Mac tribute band play and Morgan was very busy but she always made sure we were taken care of. She was very friendly and attentive while busily taking care of others. Our food was good and tasty. Definitely recommend! Thank you Morgan for making our dining experience a memorable one!
