Clean and tidy, exceeded expectations. I thought this place would rest on its laurels of pure nostalgia, but it was a pleasant stay. The rooms were made up nicely, and smelled clean. The bed was comfortable (I slept in Room 9, and it was a full size bed). The family who owns the motel is very kind, eager to assist customers. I would absolutely stay here again if I’m ever in the area.
We've stayed in all three of the remaining Wigwam Motels and the San Bernardino site is the best maintained of the three. It was immaculate both as far as the room as well as the grounds. The staff was very friendly and helpful and willing to get up early to fix us coffee before we left at 4 AM if we wanted. They also had a great assortment of souvenirs and postcards for sale in the office so we could have mementos of our visit. I highly recommend any Route 66 aficionados who are considering a visit to go ahead and book a visit. I must warn you that although this Wigwam motel's claim to fame is that they are the only one of the 7 to have a pool it was surprisingly small by modern standards. It didn't affect our stay though as it was after dark when we arrived and much too chilly to be going swimming.
The kitsch of this place is what drew me in. The tee-pee “wigwams” are definitely nostalgic, especially being on Historic Route 66 - it feels like a blast from the past, pulling up.
The current family who owns the place has made this their American dream: they have invested a great deal into restoring this motel.
The rooms are plain and serviceable. Everything was clean, the bed and pillows comfortable.
The little lobby with gift shop attached is filled with lots of Route 66 mementos. They have a Keurig with complementary coffee and tea you can make for yourself; the lobby is open 24H. Customer service is very good.
I would definitely return, if I’m ever again in this area.
I've always wanted to stay in a Wigwam since it feels like a very classic family road trip stop. It lived up to my expectations!
The rooms were basic, but extremely clean and actually looked better in person than they did on the website. The grounds were kept very clean and allowed for a lot of photo opportunities.
The pool area is open late if you want to take a dip. However it is not heated so it's got to be pretty warm out to make it comfortable.
Checking in and out was super easy and the staff was very friendly.
Overall it's a great place to stop if you want some cool pictures and can say you've stayed in a Wigwam.
1st time staying here and it was a very unique experience. Definitely enjoyed taking photos and all. As a 6'2 man I still had enough room but the shower was a little small but thats to be expected. Very clean, front was friendly
Definitely plan to return here
Enjoyed our unique stay. Teepee are really fun to see along with the Route 66 art. The staff is friendly and very helpful. The pool is immaculate and a nice addition. The inside of the teepee needs a face-lift. Some artwork and decor would greatly improve the accommodations. With that being said however the rooms are clean and well maintained. A coffee pot in the room would be a wonderful addition. Overall enjoyed the uniqueness and the price is great.
The atmosphere is neat. The rooms are clean. Being in A wigwam t is small inside but really enjoyed ourselves. The office has souvenirs which is nice so you can have a momento of the wigwams. It is located on Route 66 so very easy to continue driving Route 66.
The father/son duo who run this motel are fantastic. While the units are of course aged (part of their charm), and you have to use the microwave in the office, these wigwams have been maintained in excellent shape and were a delight in which to spend a couple of nights. |They were helpful with any questions asked of the area and always pleasant to their customers. They love being part of Route 66 and stamping those passport books.
