I went at the recommendation of a friend and I think because of the reviews and menu I had such high expectations.. but what I got was a pretty submediocre experience. The food was pretty average and was priced reasonably despite that.
Much more concerning was the dining and cooking area. The place really seems uncleanly and if you told me this place potentially had some concerning health code violations in the past I really wouldn't be surprised.
The gentleman running the place was nice and chatty but I don't think I saw him wash his hands once while prepping and cooking the food.
Someone in a different review said it but this place is definitely a dive and sadly I cant say I'd go back.
Lived in Minneapolis for 24 years and finally made it to this gem of a spot. Love the look, feel, vibe, whatever you call it, of the place itself. Then the food! Choices! Stellar selection in terms of choosing your own adventure on how you'd like your food made. We tried 3 different weiners and they were all delicious. Didn't know they have a same or similar thing going regarding customizable burgers. What's more, is they also serve breakfast all day! Gotta go back for the burgers and the breakfast. Gonna go back simply because the owner was fantastic, his son came in to work the afternoon shift and was also rad. Overhearing the owner chat with another West Banker, was endearing and the kindness shared between them while discussing the neighborhood and whatnot, will ensure that I continue to support this business. All around good stuff coming outta there. Kudos and thanks for the tasty everything!
Best diner in town, there's almost nothing like it. Still run by Pat and his son. Always only has one employee who takes your order then makes it 30 seconds later so you can do any substitution or combination. I get the burger Manhattan style which is a hot dog topping for instance. Prices can't be beat, even cheaper than Five Guys. Watch the Diners Drive-Ins & Dives episode, Guy Fieri somehow knew this spot and came thru back in the day and it's still exactly the same. As time goes on there's fewer spots like these so you really gotta appreciate it and tip well!
cheapest decent meal around. only went twice in my life so far but both times the owner was very welcoming, you could tell the guy puts his heart into the place.
Very tasty menu choices. Small town feel in a big city. We were in town from South Dakota and would definitely come back. Our daughter even tried to convince them to come to our town lol. Highly recommend. Daughter was able to eat vegetarian too!
The hot dogs and breakfast were fantastic! The prices are value deals! Awesome diner vibes! All around a great experience! We are definitely coming back to try all the other hot dogs. Currently, you can only dine outdoors.
The burger was juicy, and had a perfect crust, and for only $6! Hand-cut fries were spot on, crispy on the outside, and perfectly creamy on the inside. The Wienery is a classic West Bank spot.
This place is like no other. No bells and whistles, just a small place that makes the best variety of hot dogs, breakfasts and burgers.
Their hand-cut fries are better (and cheaper) than the ones you can find at the state fair.
The guy working was super friendly, down to earth and chatted with us while we ate.
It's an experience! Try the Warsaw dog!
