Great hotel. We didn’t want to deal with the casino crowds or the smell of cigarettes. We wanted to be downtown. This hotel was a perfect fit for us. ||The staff was nice and helpful. They allowed us to add two guests to our room last minute. ||Rooms are quiet, clean, and had a great view from the 10th floor. The pets in the hotel were not bothersome. Only weird thing was that we couldn’t find the bathroom fan switch. ||Parking was a long walk, but I was happy to only pay $7 when leaving the parking garage each day. The parking garage elevator was dirty and the gears were noisy, but we never had a problem. ||I would stay here again. Lots of great food downstairs and nearby.
My parents stayed here for a few weeks a while back and said they really liked it, so I thought I'd give it a try.
As for the hotel in general, I like the semi-rustic mountain-themed decor. The breakfast was decent, nothing too amazing but not bad. It's too bad the lobby doesn't have any automatic doors.
Don't listen to the complaints about parking - it's totally fine. The parking garage is basically catty-corner to the hotel and automated, and they offer both a per-exit and per-day price which I thought was quite reasonable.
The location is great; you're right next to the famous Reno sign and a short walking distance from the Reno Amtrak station. I didn't use the climbing gym on the second floor, but it looks impressive. Overall I really enjoyed my stay here and will be back.
My husband and I loved every aspect of our 2 night stay! The design of our basic room was tasteful, bed was comfortable, and the room was clean. They even cleaned the room after our first night without us having to request it, something I feel most hotels don't do now days. I would opt for the concierge lounge if you have the opportunity to. It was nice to have a space to sip on a cup of tea and read a book in between the coffee and evening services. In the evening they have a loaded charcuterie board and desserts to enjoy with a nice ambience. Location wise, it was very close to the river walk and the arena which was perfect for our needs. I'm looking forward to my next visit.
I was only there for one night in November, but it was a very pleasant stay. The lounge was a nice bonus, and the room had a good view.
The only real problem is the parking which is in a caddy corner to the hotel and the only entrance is on the opposite corner of the garage, so you'll probably want to use the valet if you're going to be using a vehicle daily.
They also didn't have an ironing board, which is kind of frustrating because I usually use them as a folding table. Since hotels don't have a lot of table/counter space. Instead, they had what appeared to be a steamer.
The hotel had a lovely clean scent when you walk in and it is a non-smoking hotel. My room had a mini retro vintage looking fridge and a Keurig machine. Microwave upon request. The hotel is quiet, the beds are comfortable, and the pillows are fluffy. The hotel staff was kind and professional!
I stay at a lot of hotels and this was definitely at the bottom of the list. Staff was very unwilling to assist with any requests. The first room I was given was at 78 degrees when I walked into the room; when I went to turn down the temperature, it was already set at 65. The “air conditioning” was extremely noisy and sounded broken. I stayed in the room overnight assuming it would cool down and it never got below 76 degrees. In the morning, requested a new room but told one wasn’t available. Waited, then was given a different room, but no apologies or offers of assistance from the staff. The room I moved into had better air conditioning, but the door was incorrectly seated in the doorway, so much so that I could see straight through the doorway into the hallway. If someone wanted, they could have easily looked into my room. And even though the locks were seated when turned, they were not secure. I’m sure a solid shove on the door was enough to break the lock’s contact with the doorway. At night, the hallway light coming through that crack was obnoxious. I had to stuff towels in there just to darken the room. If you’re looking for proximity to gambling, this is a good choice. A large amount of homeless on the streets immediately around the hotel, so beware of that. More than half asked for money. Seems to be the norm around Reno and the touristy area, however. I made several normal requests of the staff that are accommodated at most every other hotel at which I stayed. Was denied a late checkout (I am a Diamond member), then, after I checked out, the staff wouldn’t even let me use the elevator to go back to the lounge until my group left the hotel. It was extremely obnoxious. I would not stay here again, nor would I recommend it. Picture attached of the light from the doorway in my second room. I took a video of it which was much more evident, but Google doesn’t allow videos to be posted. I don’t think I’ve been more let down by a hotel in my professional career, much less as a diamond member in their program.
Update: The Manager was supposed to call me to discuss my issues with the Hilton benefits. Instead of calling me, he responded to this review. Therefore, I’ll take two stars off the overall review and one star for service :(
This hotel is part of the Hilton Tapestry Collection, but only uses the name. They do not play by the rules for Hilton members using their tier benefits (Gold and Diamond upgrades, for example). They explained that they allow members to redeem points as part of the rewards program, but nothing else. With that said, the room and amenities at the property were amazing - I wish I had more time to use the gym and rock climbing wall, so I'll be back for those!
This was a very nice Hilton Hotel with friendly staff. My room was clean and the views from the window were wonderful. It was close to a lot of things downtown and convenient to the interstate. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was hot. If I come back to Reno I will stay here again.
