Let me preface by saying that my boyfriend went into the restaurant while I waited in the car and instantly came out with a smile on his face because the people in there were absolutely phenomenal. And me, as probably the most critical and annoying person when it comes to what is actually good food, was blown away from the HUSH PUPPIES THEMSELVES. The fried okra - phenomenal. The hot dogs???????? There is no business for anyone to go anywhere else for a hot dog. Any other hot dog compared to white swan would be a regrettable choice. I’d drive the 30 mins from Garner to white swan any day for the food! We ended up having to go for seconds and my boyfriend came back laughing and smiling again. We had to get more hush puppies and hotdogs along with drinks and this time Mac and cheese, which was a 1000/10. 5 stars for this restaurant is not enough.. I wish I could give more. I also wish I went inside with my partner. I’ll just say this - as a first gen American with European parents I know first hand the difference between bad food, good food, and food that’s made with love. This is food made with love. You can prepare a dish just right, but without that quality you can never get it to amount to what White Swan has. Also my tire popping on the way back home didn’t even upset me because of how great the food was, so if that doesn’t say something I don’t know what will lol.
1/31/24……Ordered the barbecue and slaw sandwich, make sure to order an extra scoop because they are very stingy. During my visit items were not fresh or hot. Will consider the other location next time. Staff finally took my order after they finished their side conversation.
You are looking for some great North Carolina BBQ... THIS IS THE SPOT! Everything down to the hush puppies.. jeez, was amazing! The staff was the bright spot. They make you feel welcomed and right at home. I am so full, I need a nap now!
Got to go , chicken pastry ( fire) 10/10, chicken salad 10/10. Fried orca 10/10!! Hush puppies 10/10!! That had everything I love and have been missing ! This place is a GEM ????????
Wow! This place did not disappoint! The hush puppies were AMAZING as was the bbq plate, green beans and mac & cheese. The folks who work there were very kind, personable and went above and beyond to make sure we had a good experience.
No frills - but fast service from a wonderful full menu of daily specials, with your choice of meat and two vegetables! From their daily special for Monday, I chose their hamburger steak with "mashed" tater tots (really good!) and their brunswick stew. My friend got their fried pork chops with green beans (seasoned with pork) and potato salad. I posted pics of both. We were originally planning on trying their barbecue and fried chicken, but will do so next time!
I got the BBQ and fish platter and was not disappointed especially with the portions o rBBQ and fish (bass). Talk about generous! Both the potato salad and coleslaw are what I would consider traditional no frills recipes but it reminded me of home and that's not a bad thing. Definitely worth the stop if heading in/out north of Smithfield.
This BBQ chicken, string beans and potato salad was good. Excuse the picture, the BBQ sauce had spilled from the take out container.
They have catfish and fried chicken also. I will have to try them the next go around.
