I visited the White Rose Hamburgers diner on Wednesday evening, November 13th, and had a relatively quick and pleasant experience. The parking was easily accessible, making it convenient to get in and out quickly. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich with a soda for about $12, which was reasonable for a casual meal.
Upon entering, I was greeted by a friendly cashier and the owner, both of whom were very kind and asked how I enjoyed my visit, which added a personal, friendly feel to the place. The diner had a retro, 1950s-style look - the bright lighting added to the lively, welcoming ambiance.
Since it was relatively quiet—just another mom and her two kids were there—I only waited about five minutes for my food. My visit happened between the lunch rush and closing, so the atmosphere was calm and relaxed. The menu was straightforward, with all the classic diner staples but nothing especially unique or eye-catching.
The grilled chicken sandwich itself was great - just the right portion size, with tomatoes, lettuce, and pickles on the side. Most of the diner's options are non-vegetarian but vegetarians can enjoy various food options, such as the grilled cheese sandwich.
Overall, the retro vibe and friendly service made this diner a comfortable spot for a quick, simple bite to eat. It’s a great choice for anyone looking for a quiet, nostalgic experience in Highland Park.
When considering all the burger joints I've been to, White Rose undoubtedly offers the best burger for the price. I've never had to wait more than a minute for my burger here. The cheese fries and onion rings are also fantastic, super crunchy, and delicious. Perhaps it's a good thing there aren't more White Roses around, or my overall health might take a significant dive. I will forever hold the memories of stopping here on my way home from work in high regard. The staff is super friendly, extremely efficient, and kind. We tried the Cali cheeseburger and deluxe chicken and loved the food. With its classic look and baseball decor, I can't help but love this place.
Stop in for a quick bite. Had the double Cheeseburger, and double bacon Cheeseburger. Excellent classic biggie sized sliders. The chopped onion in the patties had such great flavor. Def a must try!
I honestly didn’t think this place was going to be this good! Truly delicious. The Cali burger, juicy tenders, fries and a strawberry milkshake was excellent! Not one negative thing to say. Will definitely come back.
I love the historic energy... The food is made to order. This restaurant will always be in my top 5 places to eat.
Tried the NJ Burger and Fries, and Strawberry Shake. The food came in within 1 minute of ordering, and it looked fresh. The Fries were crispy but didn't taste like much. The Burger was filling but did not have much taste either. The Burger and Fries both needed more salt. The Shake had a nice taste, but might be too sweet for some. It still did a good job in washing down the bland food.
I liked the old school diner theme they had going on.
The burgers are about as thin as the hope for something better to open in highland park. Maybe this counts as something good but if you're used to good food, don't go here.
Cheese choices are American.
Breakfast is passable.
They charge more for card transactions even though it's been proven over and over again that card issuers aren't charging those fees, so it's a naked money grab.
If the hamburger patties were any thinner and the hamburger buns any thicker, you could pass the burgers off as vegetarian.
If anyone wants to make a killing in highland park, open a good diner.
Extremely quick service. We got a variety of things to try. The chili cheese fries were amazing. The burgers are served on an amazing kaiser with a side of pickles. Portions are very generous. We weren't blown away by the chili dogs, but everything else was great.
