Wonderful atmosphere. Love the whole ambiance of old town spot. And loved the burning fireplace.
The service was spectacular. Very friendly, gave good recommendations.
However not all the food was as great as the atmosphere. The pretzel with beer cheese was plenty to share and delicious. Fried pickles were good, but found a torn piece of paper battered and fried (we didn’t eat it lol).
The Alfredo pasta was kinda watery but good flavor, but the salmon was sour.
My husband said the fried chicken, green beans, and potatoes were all top notch and would order again.
Next time we will try dessert.
This pizza and more restaurant is right on the Swamp Rabbit Trail and Main Street. It is upstairs and open on the sides but covered. The pizza was fine, service was attentive. I would like to eat there during the day next time to be able to see more. We each had the small pizza but probably could have shared one with an appetizer.
We had a great lunch experience at Whistlestop! The food was delicious, we ordered fish and chips, mozzarella sticks, wings, a cheeseburger and a couple kids meals. The drinks were great, my sister and I are both pregnant and our server suggested a virgin strawberry daiquiri that was fabulous. We finished the meal off with New York style cheesecake and the pink strawberry cake.
We were sat at the table directly in front of the fireplace, the ambiance was perfect for the holiday.
What really made it a fabulous experience was our delightful server Wendy. She was attentive, hospitable and had great suggestions. She made us feel welcome and anticipated all of our needs. It was a fantastic experience and we can’t wait to be back!!
EAT ON THE ROOFTOP!! Good food and very historic/nostalgic atmosphere. Definitely a must-see in Traveler's Rest, S.C. Attentive servers. A bit pricey for sandwiches, which we all ordered. Didn't really notice other food prices.
Really fun place to dine! The depot decor brings you back in time. Fantastic food. Friendly atmosphere. Perfect location on bike trail and quaint small South Carolina town with appropriate name. Travelers Rest!!!!
I’ve been to this restaurant a few times, but this last experience was horrible. Not only was the food second rate at best, but the waitress desperately needs lessons in how to treat a customer. (It was later in the evening, and it was like I was served the food that they were about ready to throw out). I complained and her attitude was hateful and totally unconcerned. By complaining, I was suddenly the bad guy. If I were the owner of that restaurant, And heard the way she spoke to me, I would’ve fired her on the spot. She couldn’t have cared any less about satisfying me as a paying customer. Past experiences have been good, so my advice would be to go at peak dinner time and do not sit at the bar. You’ll probably get pretty good food and not have to deal with “Ms. Attitude”. P.S. I had to stop by McDonald’s when I left there in order to satisfy my hunger.
We loved this restaurant. The food was great and service was good. Giant pretzels, fried green tomatoes, salads, and of course the pizza. The atmosphere is fabulous with the upstairs outdoor seating area and live music. A great place to bring kids.
The Whistle Stop Cafe has a nice selection of foods for.lunch. From sandwiches to burgers and even some delicious vegan options. The Bavarian pretzel is amazing. The service and the staff are friendly, attentive and knowledgeable.
