Update: best fish fry I've ever had! The batter is seasoned in such a way that I find myself hardly using tartar sauce!
MORE Updates! Still going here almost every Friday I can, still snappin' pics and LOVING the fish fry here. In addition to fish frys, their blue and gold wings are over the top!
The atmosphere and the area was very nice and relaxing. There was a live kiss band and they had the place live and rockin. Our server was amazing and made sure our drinks and food order was placed. The food just wasn’t what I expected. I ordered the smoked Blue and gold chicken wings. They were cold and not fully cooked thru didn’t taste smoked at all. I also ordered the Mac-n-cheese bowel with chicken. Bland and too much cheese. The only thing I liked was the bbq drizzle. I would only return for drinks.
We didn't eat but the place was very very cool. Service was good. Cocktails were not weak LOL. You can get my meaning there. I will definitely be back. Lots of music at a lot of different times. Close to the water. Parking was not difficult. But it was not a very busy time. You may want to get there early if you are going to see a popular band.
Set outside with friends and family for an outdoor concert and dinner. Very busy! Staff was good but a bit overworked, which seems very common these days. I had their smoked chicken wings with the black and blue treatment, which were very tasty but a bit pricey.
My girlfriend had a special order hamburger without a bun (no gluten-free option visible) and french fries. The french fries side was disappointing due to the very small portion provided. No complaints from the other diners.
Drinks were not on the cheap side but reasonably priced considering the music was free. Inside the bar was quite busy, although this was a beautiful Friday night.
I personally didnt try any food but most of the people I went out with ordered food and they all seemed pretty satisfied. Atmosphere is awesome, love the outdoor area and the outdoor stage for entertainment. Service was very slow though, the outdoor bar has a 4 sided bar but only 2 bartenders working at a time, this made it very hard to get a drink in a timely fashion. It took almost 10 mins to get a drink which takes away from the live show.
Was seated quickly at a bar table and then sat for 30 minutes before a waitress showed up. The food was bad. Ribs were cold, dry and over cooked and the chicken kabob special was raw in the middle. The worst part was the state of the mens bathroom. Vent hanging from the ceiling, toilet paper and urine all over the floor, soap dispenser hanging from the wall and paint cans under the sink?
Seems like a very poorly managed restaurant.
The house favorite Whiskey River Burger was awesome. Between the garlic aeoli, bacon, roll, crumbly blue and hand made patty. I would put this burger up against any Rochester burger. Our server Rosie was perfect. We will be back. Annie and I love this place. Cheers
Was busy when we came in but it was 6 on a Saturday night. The wait was less than 10 minutes and we had a seat at the bar. The food was absolutely excellent! We got the blue and gold smoked wings which were unbelievably juicy and tasted awesome! The whiskey selection was vast and the cost was low. I ordered a relatively top end bourbon neat and it was 6.50! That is unheard of and definitely I'll be back just for that.
The crowd was upbeat the music was appropriately volume, and the TVs were jamming sports.
They offer plenty of healthy and gluten-free items in the menu and the costs are average for the Rochester area. Lower in some cases.
The downside to the restaurant is the area has minimal parking. However 5 minute walk from there has more than ample parking spaces and lots.
You will not be disappointed with whiskey river! Give them a chance. Enjoy the food and flair, and bring buisness back to this area of the city!
