Best WLM Reviews
Whiskey Cale Kitchen and Bar at Katy was a great experience! We went within the first couple of hours they opened and I couldn’t have asked for better service. It lacked the rush that much of Houston offers. Our service was friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was calm and the facility was clean. The food was delicious except for the fried mini corn dogs and fried green tomatoes. The corn dogs were too crispy, almost burnt and the fried green tomatoes were too greasy. It left our stomachs upset. I would recommend this spot to my friends and would come back.
Love this restaurant. The atmosphere is on the darker side, which I personally love. Started out with Bloody Mary's. They bring you the glass with ice and vodka, then you go to the Bloody Mary buffet bar to fix it how you like. It was so much fun and an extra plus with how it's set up.
Next, we got the goat cheese fondue plate. Talk about yummy overload. My main meal came out and was not what was expected. I brought it up to the waiter, who was very nice and understanding. The manager even came over and apologized. They were going to make me another plate, but I said it was okay and just to take off the bill. I'm not mentioning the plate I ordered, nor a picture because they professionally fixed the issue.
I will definitely be back and look forward to trying their fried green tomatoes.
A rich, moist cake topped with pecans and served with a caramel or toffee sauce over a creamy base. The combination of textures—from the crunchy nuts to the dense cake and smooth sauce—suggests a wonderfully indulgent bite. It’s definitely something that would satisfy a sweet tooth with its a flavorful blend of nutty and caramelized flavors. Amazing!
The pasta is creamy and comforting, with a mix of fresh ingredients like spinach, diced tomatoes, chicken and generous shavings of Parmesan cheese on top. The sauce seems well-coated on the rigatoni, promising a satisfying, savory experience with each forkful. This dish is a perfect choice for anyone craving a hearty, creamy pasta.
The deviled eggs have a creative twist, topped with crispy bits and garnished with herbs, giving them a fresh, visually appealing look. The duck wings are glazed in a thick, sticky sauce, garnished with red chili slices and sesame seeds, which likely adds a spicy kick. They bring bold flavors and are perfect for sharing.
Overall this place never disappoints with the food. It’s delicious and the wait time even though the place was packed came out fast. The candles they sell are a smell good haven. The waiter wasn’t very good. He didn’t seem friendly or attentive. That’s the reason for 3 star service.
The food did not disappoint. From appetizers to entrees, everything was well-prepared and flavorful. We were particularly impressed by the freshness of the ingredients and the inventive pairing of dishes. The drinks were equally impressive, with a wide range of craft cocktails and whiskey selections that complemented the meal.
Our server, Gabby, was fantastic—knowledgeable, personable, and attentive. She made excellent recommendations, and her familiarity with the menu made our dining experience all the more enjoyable. Her pleasant demeanor and professionalism stood out as a highlight of our visit.
Unfortunately, the overall experience took a disappointing turn toward the end. After a leisurely afternoon of food and drinks, a manager approached us with an abrupt notice that we had just 10 minutes left to vacate the table. While we understand we had spent a fair amount of time dining, the tone and manner in which this message was delivered lacked tact and courtesy. Rather than offering us the option to move to the bar and continue our celebration, the manager’s approach felt rushed and dismissive, which dampened what had been a positive experience up to that point.
Good food and great service were overshadowed by poor people skills and a lack of finesse in customer management. For a celebratory outing, you expect a level of hospitality that makes you feel welcome throughout the experience, and unfortunately, that wasn’t the case here. In the future, we’ll be looking to other options in the Katy area.
We will not be returning to Whiskey Cake Kitchen.
The food was good, and the service was trash. Constantly looking for when she did walk by, it's like she didn't want to stop. I had to flag her down. Had to ask another waitress for help. I believe she said her name was LT. LT had a great attitude and was super sweet. The whiskey cake is amazing! The drink was ok. I had the great escape, and it was super bitter. Couldn't find my waitress, so I stopped LT, and she got my drink all the way right for me. My husband had a bourbon flight, which is a sampler of 4 whiskeys. Great date night minus the service. The hostess was very nice and upbeat! For food, we had the duck legs nice flavor, but meat was overcooked and dry. Hubby had a burger it was good and juicy with great flavor. I had a salad which was small but still good.
Whiskey Cake in Katy offers a fantastic dining experience with great food and attentive service, making it an excellent choice for group birthday celebrations. The menu is diverse and flavorful, with fresh, high-quality ingredients. The rustic-chic ambiance adds a warm, inviting touch that's perfect for special occasions. Highly recommended for a memorable gathering!
Shrimp And Grain & Beyond meat Burger are my favorites!
3 star only because of the positive upper scale themed restaurant. Remember the word theme. The presentation is nice, that’s basically what your paying for besides the exclusive wide range of exquisite whiskey that they offer. I loved our waiter, the restroom concept is cool and stylish. Again the key word is “ Theme “ when you get sold for the theme you will fall for anything.
We ordered the Goat cheese Fondue, Chile Glazed Duck Wings, and Crab Crawlers for appetizers. Duck wings were fire ???? crab crawlers were slightly above average. Goat cheese was sub par. Their mustard seed ketchup was slappin’!!!
I ordered the Tavern Burger Medium rare. The burger was good only because of the quality of meat they used. The flavor was bland, no seasoning at all. The fries were cooked way to hard. I ordered the Mac n cheese, that tasted like velveeta mac and cheese. I didn’t take a pic, I only ate one spoon full. My meal was a solid 2 only because of the quality of meat they used for my burger.
Would I come back here, perhaps. I took my family here so they could try it. My sister ordered the Chicken Cheese & Melt. She enjoyed it. But my in person experience was sub par. I ordered to go a month ago. The chickenBirdger I ordered at that time was really good, and so were the fries! I was pretty disappointed with my meal this go round.
If you never been here, I would say. Try it out!
Had the Lemon grass & noodle from the garden section and it was delicious. For dessert had the whiskey cake. Also delicious. Overall very satisfied with food and service. Will definitely come back and also recommend to my friends . This was at the Katy location
