A Taste of Heaven in the Heart of Austin!
I just had the most incredible dining experience at Whip My Soul, hands down the best soul food in Austin, Texas! From the moment I walked in, I felt like I was in for a treat. The warm and welcoming atmosphere, coupled with the mouthwatering aromas wafting from the kitchen, set the tone for an unforgettable meal.
The service was top-notch - friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable staff happy to guide me through the impressive menu. And the food? Absolutely divine! I ordered the catfish plate & the fried chicken and waffles, and let me tell you, it was love at first bite. The chicken was crispy, juicy, and full of flavor, paired perfectly with a fluffy, golden-brown waffle.
The sides were equally impressive - creamy mac and cheese, tender collard greens, and the most scrumptious candied yams I've ever had. Each bite was a masterclass in soul food perfection.
Whip My Soul has earned a loyal customer in me. If you're craving authentic, delicious soul food in Austin, look no further! Get ready to taste the real deal.

15/10 Will definitely visit this spot time and time again! For sure one of my new favorites ! Amazing home style cooking. I recently moved to Austin from Georgia and had missed some of the great bites I had at Whip My Soul. I cannot recommend this place enough! The fried fish and tenders are so crispy and moist. The mac and cheese is very cheesy and the cornbread is moist. The staff is very friendly and helpful. There was no wait when we arrived around 6:30pm on a Wednesday but by 7pm there was a short line that still moved fairly quickly. Our food came out quick and hot. Can't wait to come on the weekend so I can try their fried cabbage!
The food is very good, always hot, and they have generous portions. I am a collard green egg roll junkie ????. The staff is very polite and attentive. Great place for family or friends. There are usually tables available during lunch on week days and they are always clean. The weekend gets busy.
The food came out better than I thought. Soul food wouldn't be how I'd describe it. More like Soul food that's palatable for everyone in the best kind of way. Still well made. The service is welcoming and friendly. The atmosphere had a nice vibe. Nothing at all what I expected. Go give them a try!
Whip My soul has a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere. I had the sampler 2 fish, 2 wings, 2 chicken tenders. The meal was very good. My favorite of the 3 was the catfish but all were good. My sides were candy tams and cornbread both were good. Highly recommend the candy yams that sweet southern flavor was great@
Update- I went back a second time and they did not disappoint! This time around I got chicken wings, mac n cheese, yams and cornbread. The Mac was so cheesy and the yams were so delicious. The wings were seasoned well and a nice size. The atmosphere was very chill and they have a lot of drink options which was nice. The staff were friendly and I got my food in a timely manner. I’ll definitely go back a third time to try something else!
Hands down the best soul food I’ve had in Austin! There are so many options, but I went with a piece of fish, collard greens, gizzards and cornbread. The cornbread just melted in my mouth! The greens were delicious! That fish was so good that I didn’t even need hot or tartar sauce. Not many people like gizzards but they were so dang good and cooked to perfection! I will definitely go back to try more items!
A friend brought me here while I'm in town visiting and it's genuinely some of the best soul food I've ever had! So amazing, and the cheezy mac in particular was probably the best I've had from anywhere. Highly recommend checking this place out if you're in Austin! Also everyone working there was super nice and helpful. Overall a wonderful experience!
10 stars! Hands down best soul food in whole Austin area period. We tried the 2/2/2 loved the wings especially and the cornbread too was fire. The egg rolls with ox tails and Mac n cheese insane. Oh and the kooks is on point. We'll be back again and again. And again. Unbelievable.
