I am very thankful, and surprised, to say that this hospital took the absolute best care of me that I have received in years. After two miserable appointments to the Island hospital ER, everything was completely different when I arrived here. I was immediately given an EKG, and taken seriously. I was immediately offered a blanket, the nurses held my hand and comforted me, many nurses and the doctor were all very focused on my care and comfort and checked on my frequently.
I cried because it finally felt like I was being taken care of. Thanks to Maggie, Cynthia, Emily and Holly.
Waited in the ER for 6 hours and wasn’t seen. And there were still four people ahead of me that had been there for longer. I went in for possible kidney infection or lodged kidney stone. I understand that my need wasn’t an emergency “emergency”. I had already gone to urgent care and they sent me to the ER. I get it, beds were full, sicker people need to be seen, staff were doing their best! I am not mad at anyone. But I was in so much pain and I had nobody to watch my toddler as her bedtime was approaching. I could not sit in those chairs any longer. I left the ER crying and in pain with no answers. Still in a large amount of pain.
If you want to avoid long wait times I’d suggest somewhere else.
The doctor that I saw at their so-called walk-in clinic was good. He did a great job. But my concern is that they did not correctly submit the correct code to billing. I have called numerous times and no one ever answers the phone. At the billing department. I have left detailed messages and no response. My insurance company is rejecting the claim because they put the wrong code for billing. Soon I will have to drive up there myself and talk to billing because they don't care and are not answering their telephones and this is not the first time this has happened to me. Their billing department does not want to answer calls
I have had to take my elderly dad to the ER several times over the past 3 years. I am impressed with the overall care he has received from the WhidbeyHealth staff to include the outstanding care he most recently received from Dr. Perera and the rest of the ER team on duty that day. I am grateful we have the hospital right here in Coupeville and I appreciate the compassionate care given by the majority of WhidbeyHealth staff.
Kourtnee Lindgren with WhidbeyHealth women’s care is an absolute delight. She took the time to answer every question, thoroughly explained procedures and gave great recommendations for my health. I will be recommending her to everyone seeking women’s health care.
My phleb tech, Emily is a treasure. She put me right at ease with her demeanor and humor and got my vein in one poke.
I saw KK in radiology. She was patient, kind and did an outstanding job.
Added perks booking with WhidbeyHealth women’s care is that the nurses and front staff are just as amazing. I love the text messages about appointments and the thank you for coming in. Nice touch!
Go to island hospital if you can. The lady at the front desk where you check in at the ER blatantly rolled her eyes when we took my daughter in for severe stomach pain. The triage nurse also dismissed my daughter’s pain and told her to “try again” with her pain level because she didn’t have tears, even though she was whimpering and squirming with pain. This ER is a JOKE! I even talked to a nurse in the ER about it and was followed with “I don’t get involved in that” save yourself and go to island hospital in anacortes. They’re much more professional and caring.
Visited the ER in the middle of the night for abdominal pains. The Doctor literally shrugged, administered pain meds, took an inconclusive CAT scan and we got a bill for $10k.
It's unfortunate that this is the only provider on the Island.
Pretty much what I have come to expect from American Health (couldn't) Care.
My husband went to check in at the front desk to have labs drawn as the lab front desk was closed due to it being after hours. One girl was on her cell phone while we were there. The other girl simply ignored me when I gave her information. The professionalism was subpar at best. This is a typical experience at this organization. Do better.
