Best WLM Reviews
This is my 2nd visit to this establishment in less than 2weeks. I’m going to give my honest opinion. This establishment NEEDS a FACELIFT. It stinks & it’s not the cleanest. Tables & floors are dirty. The bathroom is a freaking mess & they should be ashamed of themselves to let customers go in and use it. It’s filthy!
I only eat chicken & lamb so I’ve only ordered the wings both times , side of stewed chicken which was great but not enough & the jerk lamb chops both times. This time the wings were super rubbery so I didn’t eat them all. The last time the wings were cooked to perfection. The lamb chops were really good & they were cooked just how I like them. I don’t think the meal was worth $86.
So this is apparently a very popular spot. This was my husband and I first time going. It was VERY HOT inside and crowded. The door was propped open, which didn’t really help. We ordered our food (took about 30-35 to get, but it was packed so this was reasonable), we took it to a local park to eat. Well the food was…. AWESOME! Absolutely delicious and decent portions. I got crab & shrimp stuffed salmon with cabbage and plantain, hub got oxtail with mac&cheese and cabbage, 2 coco breads, and 2 drinks ($77 & change). We WILL be returning, we can from High Point and they did not disappoint.
Spent approximately 120$ on 4 meals!!! Rasta pasta was terrible and sweet brown stewed chicken tasted old and dry my daughter said she liked her oxtails and her friend said she liked the wings I asked them could we swap out the Rasta pasta for just a side of oxtails because it didn’t taste good and she said no because there is nothing they could do about it… then I ordered my daughter some wings since she couldn’t eat her pasta they called her to come get her wings when she walked up another guy said they forgot his wings so they have him my daughters wings and we had to wait on more wings this places is a joke I can’t wait to dispute this charge with my bank!!! Please don’t waste your money not to mention a spider came and joined us for lunch climbed right on the table!!!
The Mac and cheese was great- had that nice crust on the top, perfect amount of cheese, just delicious. The chicken is ok- it has a nice kick to it, but I’m not a huge fan of the sauce used, in my opinion it overcompensates for the under-seasoned chicken. I prefer a jerk rub and a little sauce. It was a good value in terms of cost.
The food is so good!! I have to be honest about the wait from the time of ordering to receiving the food. It was a two-hour wait. I believe what has happened is that the restaurant food is so good that people are talking about it through word of mouth and, of course, social media. It’s just like when Keith Lee goes to a restaurant and bam the next day people are lined up. I will be back, and I hope in the near future they can get more help handling the large customer base. The food is cooked as you order. I know of this place through their food truck.
Let me start by identifying that I really want to see this business succeed, however, with they way they are currently operating, it's going to be challenging.
For many, quality and taste of food are paramount, and while I believe them to be key, they're far from being the only metrics which matter.
The food has amazing flavor, preceded by smelling and looking very tasty. This establishment has mastered that part, but there is always room for improvement, nothing which needs to be articulated in this review.
The part of my experience which causes concern is their efficiency. They get a GRADE F on customer service. I believe all of the food is cooked to order, which is probably why the flavor is fresh, but prepping food for this style of eatery with efficiency doesn't seem to be the business model of choice.
I dined there with a friend earlier today (the day I'm writing the review) and we were greeted by a line which extended to the door. That could be a good sign or bad one. In this case, it was a bad one.
We arrived at 2:10pm and ultimately placed our order at 2:35pm, but we didn't receive our food until almost 4:30pm. The first 45 minutes we spent talking, totally losing track of the time and not realizing we had been waiting for such a long time.
We also noticed from the patrons around us that everyone was hosting similar conversations about just how long they had been waiting. Most of us had never dined there before, but we heard so much buzz about the place via IG and other influencer outlets, that we had to take the dive.
I asked one of the six people working in the food preparation area how much longer it would be before receiving our order and she identified they were only waiting on the ribs to finish cooking. Never mind the fact the balance of our order was already complete. To make this long story short, the ribs took forever to prepare which led to the rest of our food not being hot upon consumption. Again, it tasted great, but it wasn't hot because of ribs. I guess they were slow cooked...rim shot.
SIDE NOTE: While I was waiting with many others, one patron asked the same question of when her order would be completed, while justifiably expressing concern about the amount of time she had already waited (approximately 90 minutes). The cashier said she was sorry about the wait and asked if she wanted a refund ALL IN THE SAME BREATH. No effort was given to offer a concession of some sort other than refunding the money.
This is why they get an F. My time is valuable and if yours is also, then be aware you will be losing a fair amount of it by patronizing this restaurant in it's current form. Forget about grabbing a quick bite for your lunch etc because it won't happen. If you decide to give it a try regardless, just know in the event you abandon the effort due to the aforementioned extended wait times, the ONLY thing you will receive for your trouble is the same amount of money with which you entered the building. Lost time is available for purchase NOWHERE.
Food Ordered (ALL DELICIOUS!)
Beef Ribs, Steamed Cabbage & Vegetables, Jerk Chicken Egg Rolls, Turkey Collards, Garlic Parm Fries, Mac-N-Cheese, Rice & Peas, Grilled Jerk Salmon
My husband and I tried this restaurant for the first time tonight for my husbands birthday. We had delivery which was fast and friendly. We ordered the ox tails with collards and Mac and cheese. We also ordered the Rasta Pasta with shrimp. These were the most delicious entrees we have had in quite some time. They were plentiful and perfect. We will order again in a heartbeat!!! Thank you for the amazing food!!!
While visiting family, we had a sudden urge to try some Jamaican food. I decided to go here and the food was OH MY GOD.. JUST AMAZING AND SEASONED WELL WITH JUST ENOUGH PORTION. They are not stingy with their food. I don't know who is cooking back there, but that person did some magic to the food.
Mac'n cheese was just sooo perfect it tasted smokey and had a hint of peppers in it. The Jerk chicken was well-seasoned and well cooked just so juicy and tender fresh..
We did not wait inside and placed the order online and just drove around because it did say that it would be about 30-35 mins wait because it indeed was busy in there.
Oh, and don't forget their plantains just yummy!!!
