Tried Wheat Penny for the first time without having any prior knowledge of it. Our group of 4 was very happy with this choice. We got in quickly with less than a 15 min wait on a Saturday night. Our server was fantastic! She was so friendly and willing to answer any questions we had about the menu. The "That's me Espresso" drinks were fabulous. All of our food choices were great and good sized portions as well. The focaccia bread was amazing with the ricotta cheese. I highly recommend that! We ordered pizzas and they were packed with flavor! We will be back when we visit Dayton again!
We (5) went here for lunch before my brother’s wedding and I think ultimately we were all disappointed. To start the menu is very boring and really expensive, which Isn’t normally that big of a deal to me. But everything took a good while to get to the table, and overall we spent about 2 hours at the restaurant. The food was decent but not great, certainly not worth the price point. There were some good things though, service and drinks. Our server was very kind and accommodating to when we wanted to get drinks and when we ordered food. The two cocktails we got were really good as well, very smooth and not super overpowering.
We had kale salad. It was enough for 3 people. Flavorful dressing. Shared a PPP pizza. Tasty crust. Delicious pizza. My daughter got meatballs and they were so good. She got a cauliflower steak and really liked it. Nice selection of beer, wine, and mixed drinks. Good atmosphere. Attentive staff.
Great food with a pretty large menu, tons of delicious options but everything we ordered was fabulous. I love all of the vegan options and mocktails too!
Delicious and healthy, and oh so friendly — Wheat Penny was an awesome choice for dinner. I never would have guessed that eggplant could taste so amazingly good, but the eggplant fries appetizer was sooooo good! Definitely check this place out
We came over from Columbus to look at hats, stopped here for a quick lunch. Shared an excellent lunch (Wheat Penny burger) and delicious dessert (Vanilla ice cream). I highly recommend this gem!
Great, local fare with an elevated homemade feel. Unique dishes that make you feel like you're getting something you can't get anywhere else. I had the Eggplant Fries which were deliciously crisp, albeit a little salty. The yogurt sauce and marinara helped cut the saltiness though. I also had the Green Lasagna with added chicken Italian sausage, spinach, and mushrooms which was rich in flavor but light overall. The mushrooms added on were plentiful, which almost detracted from the balance of the dish - but that's on me! Overall I will certainly recommend Wheat Penny to my friends and colleagues and will be back to visit next time I'm in Dayton!
Stopped into Wheat Penny last night at 8:45 pm unknowing 15 minutes prior to closing time. Happy to say they let my son and I have a seat and order some food before we got back on the road. Every employee we encountered was friendly and ensured us to take our time. Food was delicious, my son enjoyed his pizza and I enjoyed a local beer.
