I went to a Whataburger in El Paso, Texas and was left the worst taste in my mouth (literally) and nearly swore them off altogether. While driving through Tuscaloosa on my way to New Orleans I decided to stop off and grab something to eat. I saw this location and made the decision to give them one more try. I'm happy I did. To think that the Whataburger in Alabama would be better than in Texas is insane to me...but it's also true. Large and clean inside and the employees I spoke to were all helpful and friendly.
I got a double cheeseburger meal with fries and a drink and got the regular ketchup as well as their spicy ketchup for the fries. The first thoughts from the burger was that it was heavy on mustard. I personally enjoy mustard so that wasn't a big deal for me but if you don't...order it lite or on the side. I ended up dipping both the burger and the fries in the spicy ketchup by the end of it. I enjoyed the flavor of the spicy ketchup a lot but depending on your tolerance, you may not find it very spicy. I found it to have zero heat personally. The fries were crispy and tasty, definitely salted but not to the point that it was too much. They also had zero sugar lemonade and unsweetened iced tea so I was able to make a no sugar Arnold Palmer and that made me happy.
I'd stop here again for sure. THIS Whataburger location - Didn't Suck!
This place used to be really good but today was beyond disappointing. I waited about 45 minutes for my order to come out because they forgot my order, which is somewhat understandable since the restaurant was packed, but I was not happy with the fact that they didn't give an ounce of apology. Instead, I was told to either stand and wait or sit at my table for my order to come out.
If that wasn't bad enough I noticed weird black substance smeared on the side of my bun halfway through eating :(
I don't think I'll be coming back to this location again.
I eat at Whataburgers all over the country. That's my Partners and I favorite fast food place. We always have great experiences at them. This one disappointed me a little. We walked in, to 3 female servers standing at the counter with no customers. We stood there for a moment while they talked. No one spoke to us. Then, when they were done talking, they all disbursed, and we were left there standing to an empty front counter for 5 minutes. Finally, another gentleman, who was great, we hadn't seen, came up and took our order. The food was good, but I forgot to add BBQ to my sandwich, so when I asked one of the workers, who was talking to some boy visiting obviously, for a BBQ sauce, she wanted me to pay for it. (I didn't,) My partner went back up there and asked for it from another person, and they just gave it to him. I felt like I was a bother to the girl.
Why have an option for curbside pick up when you don’t even want to come outside? I made eye contact with one of the girls and she’s just watching us and didn’t bring me my order.. very lazy and unprofessional.
Stopped here passing through to grab breakfast. Zero soap in women’s restroom, so how are employees washing their hands before leaving? Zero sanitizer in dispenser right outside restroom. I waited about 15 minutes for 2 meals while employees LOUDLY, AGAIN LOUDLY discussed their personal problems and carried on like they didn’t have jobs to do. My husband waited at the counter to ask for straws since the straw container was empty. After a few minutes standing there a female employee screamed from the back “you you need something”. Worst whataburger we’ve been to by far, due to employees lack of understanding they are actually working. We decided to get our food to go so we didn’t have to listen to their constant screaming instead of normal conversational levels.
This is the second time I’ve eaten at this Whataburger. First time was drive-through and second time was dine in. Both times the food was amazing, and the service was friendly.
The restaurant was very clean. The restrooms, dining and drink area were all spotless.
Highly recommend stopping here if traveling through.
The best Whataburger in Alabama!
The manager there he takes pride in having things just right it's a work of art everything looks amazing no sloppy food love the onions rings over fries I'm a native to this restaurant when I was a child my uncle always took me in Mobile al it was awesome then I finally gave it a go in Tuscaloosa it's standing up to par.
Does anyone actually work here? I stopped by yesterday afternoon and waited at the counter for a long time. Multiple employees walked by and no one ever attempted to take my order. I'm a big fan of Whataburger, so I tried to use the drive-through and no one would take my order through the intercom system. I finally managed to get someone's attention at the drive-through window and the guy working acted like I was a problem. Management has a huge issue at this location...
