We hadn’t had Whataburger in a long time, so we Googled the closest one & Metcalf location was the closest. When we arrived wasn’t no one at the front register. After waiting 5 to 7 minutes a worker came out the restroom and went to her duties on the fry station by this time a line was at the register. I am looking around looking for someone to take our order I see a worker emptying the trash & I asked him could he get someone to take our order. Finally, someone came by then I placed my order through the Whataburger App & told the cashier that I placed my order on the App & would like to dine in. Now to the food, I ordered the sweet & spicy burger, my burger was cold, cheese wasn’t melted, the fries were too hard for my liking. Once we were done eating my Daughter wanted more fries. She went to the register & ordered a small fry. She was given a number (83) to be exact to wait on a small fry. We got to talking & realized she hadn’t gotten her small fry after 15 minutes. We went to the register & her small fry wasn’t ready I asked the Manager were they that behind that we had to wait for 15 minutes for a small fry? He went & got the small fry. I am from the South where we have always ate at Whataburger’s. This Whataburger is the worst one yet. I was so pissed I wanted to call Patrick Mahomes myself & tell him about this location. I would not recommend this Whataburger to no one, by all means go to another location.
Definitely one of the better fast food establishments regarding taste/quality, but if you aren’t using the drive thru you might as well go somewhere else. Staff will ignore you for 10+ minutes standing in front of the register, almost as if they’re hoping you leave. Wish the service was better!

Food: Good. Well made and not overcooked. Just really said they don't do Green Chile in KC. Will always be a 4/5 without it
Service: Good. Not above and beyond, but good. No issues or problems
Atmosphere: everything you'd expect. Seats were kind of sticky for some reason? It was the material, not a spill or grime though. Maybe they need to treat them.
Also, I see posts where people get angry over their lettuce. My dude, that is just how Whataburger does lettuce. It's not changing. Lol. If you hate the burger over lettuce pieces instead of one big leaf, you can eat something else.
For a fast food establishment this is far from fast. Based on the lacking menu options the wait time shocking and far from worth it. Don’t bother. I’ve given this location three times with endless failures. Save your time and Tarte buds.
Overall, I was expecting something different from what I can get at other chains. Whataburger did not deliver this. It feels like a cross of Burger King and Wendy's. I will say, the food tasted fresh and made to order. The toppings were fresh as well. But it isn't anything unique.
We got burgers, fries and onion rings to try. Maybe the shakes would have been an improvement to the experience. But right now, the restaurant is too far away to make it a regular stop. Even then, it will be hard to choose this place over the local restaurants nearby.
TL; Dr
Nothing wrong with anything about the experience. Just nothing unique either. The employees were very friendly and the place was very clean. If you like Whataburger, this is a great location for you.
Our first time here last Wednesday, 6/14/2023... but i was kinda disappointed ???? ???? when i get my food ..... I've told the cashier what i only want on my cheeseburger ???? ..... still, they put pickles in it. Though, they change it, but again, not the one that i like.... this time they put everything in my burger..... so, i complain again for the 2nd time, and i was so upset already because of this, but anyway, i got my order correctly, afterwards ????.
Maybe, we will not come back here anymore .
Unfortunately this is the slowest “fast” food restaurant in Johnson County. The employees are nice and I imagine it’s not all of their fault, maybe processes or something, but you can expect to wait anywhere from 20-30 minutes in the drive thru line. Even if you place your order ahead online, you still wait for your food until 10-15 min after the scheduled pickup time.
Every time I come here something in my order is wrong. Tonight I had a curbside order as I was just getting off work and it was easy. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich with no tomato but add avocado which the avocado costs extra to add to my sandwich so this is why it upset me. There was no avocado on my sandwich. I also ordered a white chocolate peppermint malt. I ordered a large and received a medium. It wouldn’t have been an issue if this has happened almost every time I order at this restaurant. I work in fast food so I understand some nights are just really busy and mistakes happen but tonight they had maybe 2-3 cars in the drive thru and no one inside so they couldn’t have had that many orders so I just don’t understand how they could have messed up. It just genuinely seems like the people that work here don’t care.
