Best WLM Reviews

From Charleston, came to Edisto for the day with my parents who are visiting from Athens, GA. Restaurant is located in an old gas station which was neat. The service was slow but it seemed as though they were low staffed. The atmosphere was ok. Lots of tables in a small space, but well configured. They did have a full bar area. The bathrooms were outside and very tight. Definitely not handicap accessible. The food was fantastic! My dad said the wings were the best he’s had in a while. The rest of us got seafood. Breading was very light, stayed on the food. Cooked perfectly! Great portions. The Rounds Man’s combo is enough for 2 people easily. Next time I will probably just get the raw fries(homemade chips) instead of paying $3 for fries or grits. Although the grits were very good.
Eclectic seafood dive and bar found in Edisto Island, SC. Even on a Sunday night in November, the Whaley's was super crowded. We waited a long time before being seated. Can't imagine the business during peak season. My wife and I each ordered a bowl of shrimp and crab bisque. Laid into the creamy bisque lightly flavored with sherry were three nicely seasoned broiled shrimp. However, we thought the sherry gave it a slightly peculiar and unpleasant taste. We shared a shrimp platter with fries and a pepperish cup of slaw. The shrimp is caught locally, which are fresh and plump in size. Our fried shrimp were lightly breaded and tender to the bite. There was plenty in the order for the both of us. We were well pleased with our meal, and would definitely return.
A great place to eat with friends and family.
Food came out quick and tasted good. Wings were cooked well and we're a good size. I liked the Spicy Teriyaki flavor. Chicken sandwich and a flounder were both so good. Fries were cooked well but they tasted fishy so that was the only thing that I didn't enjoy about the food.
Service was great. Very friendly and quick.
Atmosphere is that of a beach dive bar. Great place to go to get that local beach experience.
Whaley’s is an Edisto classic! Food is delicious - pictured: fried flounder with grits and slaw. Everyone at our table got the flounder. Light breading, great flavor. We come here every year and it’s usually quick getting in. Today we had to wait about an hour, but the whole time was pleasant, and we were able to take drinks from the bar out to the patio waiting area. Staff was all friendly and accommodating. Atmosphere is always fun. Great music playlist. Glad we came, always.
Fun place. Looks like old gas station outside. Clean and delicious inside. Grilled shrimp, superb. Grilled chicken sandwich, delicious. Highly recommend the "raw potatoes" which is like a homemade chip, but perfected. They are not sale like most of these can be
Sunday evening where ya supposed to go for good food? Whaley's is open until ten and has a busy diving room. Their playlist is spot on and makes me wish they had a dance floor. Showed up a few minutes after eight and couldn't be seated. so we waited an hour for take out.
The food was awesome we should have visited here sooner on our trip. Savanna was our server she was great with her suggestions and they were spot on !!! She was attentive and full of smiles. The flounder was awesome, shrimp and grits, ahi tuna on wonton, really everyone enjoyed their meal.
This place has seriously stupid pricing. They make you buy a drink or bottled water - there is no free water option, and then if you order food to go, they charge you a dollar per item on the to-go order (but don’t tell you until you get the bill.) Let me say that again: they charge you EXTRA to get food to go. Outside of the stupid pricing things, the food is gross and service sucks. I ordered a turkey sandwich which was supposed to come with bacon and caramel onions - it was literally some burnt turkey on which bread with no bacon and some burnt crusty chips as a side. Go elsewhere.
